Lobby 2 channel is now the default?

I've been out of town for a week so I've been out of the loop.  What's the story behind this new "Lobby 2" channel as the default?  What was wrong with the plain old Lobby?

Every game uses lobby 1 as it's first lobby but this isn't every game ;P
