ObjectDock stays on top when I don't want it to

I'm using ObjectDock Plus Version 1.90 on Vista HP SP1. Have 1 tabbed dock on left side of screen.

This hapens at both work and at home (more so at home though) When I open IE (version 7.0.6001.18000) OD will stay on top even though "Tab always on top" isn't checked, no hotspots are enabled either. To get OD to go back to being on the bottom I have to go into tab properties and check, then uncheck, the "Tab always on top" option. Then I can close properties and it goes back to normal....until I start IE again normally.

At work it will happen maybe once or twice a day, but at home it happens I'd say every other time that I open IE (which is a lot) and it always happens if I open MSN, then open IE, then log into MSN and minimize it leaving just IE open. 99% of the time OD will then stay on top until I go into the properties and tell it not to.

I've only added backgrounds to OD....I think I tried to add a docklet but only to the one at work and I never ever use it. All my drivers are up to date.

This problem is getting very annoying....anyone know what's causing it or if/how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance   :)

I have the same problem, ended up with doing exactly what You do.

Same problem, same annoying "workaround" - just contacted the stardock support. Will post here when they can tell me a solution.

I contacted support and they told me to use Start > Run and copy this into the command line:

for XP: %userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock

for Vista: %userprofile%\AppData\local\stardock\

That will open a file folder. Then you need to delete any ObjectDock or ObjectDock Plus folders.

Be warned though, this will reset your dock/s so make sure you save them before you do this. (They kindly didn't warn me about that and my changes for the last few days were lost :( )

It seems to have worked for me (at work anyway, haven't tried home yet)

Ooh, spoke too soon.
One restart later and the problem is back.

Yeah sure, destroy my hours of work tabbed dock by just deleting everything. No way...

You can save your docks before you do that. But as I said it didn't work for me anyway.

Very strange indeed. I use ObjectDock Plus on an XP system with no problems. I use a tabbed dock at the top of he screen and a zoomer dock on the left hand side. I have the zoomsd hidden off screen when not in use and the tab as a drawer.

Have any of you tried uninstalling, running something link CCleaner, rebooting and reinstalling? A lot of time that clears up many problems. ;)

Hey Majica8, so I don´t have to post what the support told me as I promised above because you did ;-)

Sad it doesn´t work (concerning me I cannot tell you, cause I did no reboot already), will you get back to the support with it? So I don´t have to, otherwise I will d, too.

But one hint for everyone who deleted the file like the support suggested and got all the work lost: Just open the recycle bin and there you can easily put back the file (maybe you have to delete the new one that has appeared there in the meantime).

Supports next suggestion involves generating a log file and text file to return to them, so I'm guessing they will look at it and the problem might be unique to each computer.

I'll give you the instructions they gave me so you can e-mail it to them straight away, rather than having to e-mail them, wait for their reply with the instructions, then e-mailing them again:

"Can you please follow this link in Internet Explorer:

http://sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/enumerate_startup.bat

save the file, run it, and attach the log file (named startup.log) it generates on the desktop to a return e-mail? Can you also please go to Start->Run(or Start Search in Vista) and type 'dxdiag' and hit enter. Once everything loads, please click the "Save all information" button and attach the output file (called DxDiag.txt) in a return email."

The problem on my work computer has gone, but I had to re-install Vista before it was fixed....still a problem at home though, and I'm not planning on re-installing Vista there.

Hi everybody! Seems like the problem is solved with a new beta version of ObjectDock that can be downloaded via the Stardock Impulse software (For everybody not knowing what this is: It is a manager of all your installed Stardock products that checks for updates and where you cvan buy and download new Stardock software directly etc. - like "Steam" for the Gamers - , it is the successor of Stardock Central).

For me it works good, I can say after several days without the issue now. Here´s the detailed how-to by the support:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, uninstall ObjectDock and reboot your computer.

I would recommend using Impulse to download and install the beta of ObjectDock Plus.
Impulse is our new product distribution platform that will be replacing Stardock Central. Impulse will give
you the ability to resume downloads, as well as notify you when updates are available, and prompt to update.

You may download Impulse here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

Once you download and run the installer, you will be asked to log in with your Stardock.net account(silberschwarz).

To get the beta version of ObjectDock Plus, click the blue Stardock logo in the upper left corner of Impulse.
Click 'Show pre-release versions'

You can now go under the [My Desktop] tab and
select your product and click 'Install' to install it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good luck to everyone with that issue, hope this update solves it for you, too!

One hint: Save your docks by saving them under "themes" (also all dock entries are saved), and when you uninstall it, your saved theme will not be deleted - because it stays under "documents and settings". After installing the beta version, you just load the theme, everything is there again! (If you used a custom background, you have to install it again first)

Hi again everyone,

I've still not had this problem solved, anyone know how to fix it yet?

No, sad news instead, after a while with the issue not occuring since I installed the Object Dock 1.91k beta Version it came back again. Don´t know why. Seems like we got to hope for a 2.0 version with the issue solved. At least at Stardock they are aware of it...

I don't have this problem with the zoomers at the top and bottom, but I do with the tabbed dock at the side. I finally checked "reserve edge of screen" and that moves the browser edge over so the tabs don't cover up anything. I don't like it, but at least I can see everything.
