Tips for beating Suicidal

I thought that such a topic will be a welcomed addition, so please post your insights here.

Anyway, here's my hints - when playing as Human:

- You will receive a bonus to others' relations because you have the Super Diplomat ability.
- You will receive a bonus too if others are in war with someone, get them as the game begins, it's easy with Super Diplomat. Everibody in the game must be in war with somebody, or he'll turn to you.
- Fulfill other's requests, except for planets, this warms a relation.
- Choose Neutral responses and the Alignment always, this improve relations with Neutrals, but keep the Goods and Evils indifferent.
- The treaties are extremely important. You can get even double the sums of on your income or research. Make the treaties with neighbors as their bonus offsets the diplomacy hit because of close borders and influence.
- Research quickly Sensors and get Eyes of the Universe for ship movement and the huge sensor.
- Research Master Trade and build Galactic Bazaar - what you offer in diplomacy will have 50% more value. Master Trade also unlocks Economic Capital which is better to build one the home planet - it has the most population.
- Research Total Majesty and build Spin Control Center. Later, when you build Huge ships (I never build anyhing but Huge), they'll apear 5 times stronger and the relations will warm up because of the military strength.
- It isn't necesary to research always, just keep an eye of the offers in the Diplomacy. You can get very good deals with the latest weapons and defense.A percent 75% bought and 25% researched sounds fair.
- Send a freighter to every civilization - it's a bonus to diplomacy.
- If you want, you can send the rest of freighters to the nearest neighbor and set these 4 economy starbases filled with freighter modules.
- Never sell to the AI Diplomacy or the Alliance techs (or even maybe Influence ones).
- Control as many resurses as possible. Get a constructor to every resurce to wait it's destruction -won't take too long -or use the gift a ship trick to speed the process.
- Normally the game ends with a Diplomatic victory, everybody will get Close, but you can achieve a Influence victory by building Starbases or a Conquest victory.
- In the later case, the choose of the 30% Defence in the Race creation screen and 1-2 Military Resurses is invaluable to obtain the known 75% Defense per ship from the total Offense of the enemy fleet - which makes the ship almost indestructible. It's enough to take planets defended by one ship at the time; when you see a fleet, run away.

Winning diplomacy and cultural victories with humans is just too easy on suicidal.
I'm turned those victory conditions off because it makes the game a sad experience.
Nice of you to post tips, but I don't think anyone can't figure those out by themselves on their first game :-\.

Would be interesting if you wrote an AAR for suicidal on TA. I am sure many would benefit by it (I will for sure :-)).

Master Trade also unlocks Economic Capital which is better to build one the home planet - it has the most population.
End of quote

Just regular Trade unlocks this.

Nevertheless it's nice to have someone post this, as there are a lot of questions on the forum of "newer" players on how to beat the game at suicidal.

2 points that I would change though:
- To get your military rating up sooner in the game (deferring AI's from attacking you early on), I would recommend building some smaller ships than huge ones as soon as possible. Medium hulls + psionic beams + spin control center is already a blast.
- I would send 2 freighters to each civilization, as this improves relations with a double positive factor (++) instead of just 1 that you typically get for a single freighter.

Thanks all for the replays.

The level of trading (+ sau ++) doesn't depend by the number or freighters (if anyone know the exact formula please post it). You can achieve ++ even with one freighter.

You can play without getting declared war after Galactic Bazaar/Total majesty/Economic treaty to the end of the Tech Tree only by accepting other's requests.
I prefer not to create a fleet which costs significant maintenance and which I will never use it -only to warm all relations a bit.

Now here's some tips if you choose not to play as Terran:

-You don't have a good diplomacy skill and you're weak, which means someone will declare war to you before Galactic Bazaar and a couple of Diplomacy techs. If you have only one neighbor, you can try to give it the Research treaty (only one way, from you). The Economic one is just too important. This way very rarely it will declare war.
-If you're at war with someone, you must research very quickly some engine techs and a Laser to make a couple of very fast ships, which will protect your planets from the undefended enemy Transports (thanks to Stardock). Don't build ships or starbases.
-The next step is to get all enemies' neighbors at war with it. Your success at the Diplomacy screen depends by the Diplomacy skill and the relations with them (i.e Ally-Hostile). After some time you'll get the chance for peace if it isn't destoyed.
-War. Getting the AI involved in the war all the time prevents it from building Alliances and helps your Alliances. If you see someone you will invade soon with a fleet on the Galaxy map, it means that not enough neighbors are at war with it.

|-)

Now is time to amass an Armada with Huge ships and Transports for the Blietzkrieg - you try to end the war in 10 turns. (the AI doesn't build enough Orbital fleet managers).
Two ships and 10 Transports in 5 armies each with 4 engines work well for me.  Use the Governors from Civilization manager to assemble your fleet. Move in the same time in its sphere of influence and it will declare war to you.
