HELP! windows themes broken :(

okay heres the downlo in hopes someone can help me with a very frustrating problem im having
a while back i installed various xp skining programs and i think what happened was the default skins file for windows may have gotten damaged or corrupted causing a problem whereby i can only use Classic themes without errors popping up and me being unable to open explorer windows or firefox
any ideas on what i can do to restore the original xp themes?
also i have just installed stylexp in the hopes of going around the problem but the errors persist so im thinking maybe a default windows file is damaged, has anyone encountered this before and know what to do?
