Help with ObjectDock tabs

I'm having problems with my tabs in object dock. I see all these screenshots of nice looking tabbed dock but I can't config mine to look like it for some reason. I'm trying to get mine to look kinda like this

a few problems..
i can only get my icons to line up vertically.. not horizontally.
i cant reduce the size of the dock from top to bottom... only right to left
and then the icon is sticking out of the top.. whats with that?

Also, can you link to the whole screenshot of the desktop from where you got that image? Maybe then I can understand what kind of dock it is

thanks, that did help. i was using a background that i could pick up the drag/drop to resize it. i tried a new background and it worked good
