I have experienced this as well. Only happens for me when I start the developer exe in fullscreen though.

My planets are always see-through, but stars are solid. Is there any word on what might cause this? Is it just old video cards?

i just got a new video card, or actually a used one, an ATI Radeon 9250 which is an upgrade form my previous integrated one

On my old integrated one the planets were all solid as well as the stars, but now my planets are all transparent

I think messing with the planet detail setting might help.

I'm searching the old threads, but having trouble finding the ones I'm looking for.

Edit: The threads I'm seeing mostly refer to old video cards that couldn't handle Sins, or that restarting the game fixed it. I'm going to stick to 'mess with the settings' as my advice.

I used to have the same problem.

Now I don't.

no clue why.

try changing the video settings.

I've messed with the settings and they've always been see through. However, I have a Radeon 9200, so it might have something to do with that set of video cards.

It's typically an issue with old ATI cards or drivers. I'm not sure how the OP came to get it with new of both, though.

hmmm, messing with the sttings hasnt done anything, i'll check to make sure that i have the latest driver, but my card is second hand, and no new drivers are being made, so I might have to deal with it

I had the same problem and fixed it by converting all the DDS files to bitmap and BACK again to DDS...

My mod has the converted files in the textures drawer for the "CL" files, but not for the other too, so my planets are still half-invisible, but the bright side is solid :) :D

Converting the files messes with the alpha-channel/color-0-transparency settings in the files, and on my computer fixes the planets so they are no longer invisible...
