quitters
taking a lot of the fun out of it

Okay, I'm not so mad at the fact that this game has quitters, because every game does, but I'm beginning to find it a serious problem regarding player stats.
I've won, or rather been slated to win the past 4 games I've played online, but without fail the host always quits when things are not going his or her way, and as is usually the case, a suitable host cannot be found to migrate to, and the game goes kaput for everyone else, and I don't end up getting credit for what otherwise would have been a win. This reminds me of when people would pull their modem out of the wall to avoid getting a loss in Starcraft, and then blame it on a disconnect, while causing the other player to get a disconnect as well. I for one always select surrender when I lose, and wish that other people would do the same.
I assume that having a distinction between QUIT and SURRENDER is there to spare people a loss when they simply want to save a game and continue it later ... but it's being abused terribly, which ruins multiplayer for everybody else. I just had to leave a 1v1 ... I'd spent a good half hour building up a powerhouse economy, and was in a position to produce a fleet twice as fast as my opponent. I lured him into a trap where I jumped my fleet, which was double his size, right on top of him. I didn't even get to destroy a single ship, and he quit, and the game was over - the insult to injury being I don't even get credit for the win.
I realize that the next patch is supposed to be the saviour for Sins' netcode, and I can't wait for that ... but I feel that the quit function, left unchanged, will still be abused in the same way, allowing players to recieve no losses.
I'm no programmer, so I don't know the ins and the outs of the game's code, but I'd like to suggest the following feature change:
Since the 'quit' function is intended to save people from losses should they want to save and continue at a later time, I feel it would make more sense to turn this into a 'save & quit' function - and make it so that the save (and quit) can only be done if all of the game's players vote for it; the only other option for leaving a game would be to surrender, giving the quitter his deserved loss and his opponents the deserved win.
Thoughts?
