You can just use SDC or Impulse to archive Windowblinds, and then restore it.

That is a good question.

@ Bebi Bulma

Let's assume for a minute that one has neither SDC nor Impulse,
and that one also does not want either of those,
how then would the configuration settings be saveed?
For example for an OS re-installation...

I don't know of any way to do that without SDC/Impulse.

i should have mentioned that in my post. as m-203 suggests, i prefer not to use stardock/impulse, and i'm looking for a way to back up in case i have to rebuild the system.

Too bad. These really work and I have had to rebuild severla times.

BTW, don't want to sound stupid, how are you updating anything from Stardock/WinCustomise without them?

Erm, downloading from the links provided in the purchase mails.

And this question is now of particular interest to me, since I now have vacation,
and am going to format my drive on my Sony VAIO to lose all the crap they put onboard,
and install Vista Ultimate which I bought, coz Sony don't even deliver a DVD with thier Laptops.
Even the recovery DVD's have to be made by the user!

Anyways, I will be installing Vista, and wish to backup settings,
instead of doing the entire deal from scratch (I ave a lot of 'per application' settings).

users\public\documents\stardock\windowsblinds

This folder contains all the settings plus skins installed.
In your case, "Per app" seetings are kept in the "wbperapp.ini" file.

Nice Snowman, thanks!
That'll save me a lot of work on WindowBlinds when I do my install...
