Speed Issues/memory resources with Stardock software

Greetings all!

My question basically says it all in the subject line.  How well does Stardock work with systems nowadays?  I downloaded and ran Object Desktop & WinCustomize last year & played with it.  I found it to slow my system down & it was taking a lot of resources.  My system isn't great but it's not slow.  I have 2 gigs of DDR400 memory & a AMD 3200 system.

I would like to just bite the bullet & buy the Ultimate package but am leary about it choking on my system & I'm stuck with a software brick I can't do anything with.

I love the way the software looks & hopefully my system will be able to run it efficiently.

Thanks!

I have AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 with 2gb ram and it runs just fine. On my old AMD 2400+ with 1gb ram it also ran without issue.

There is not a trial version of the complete Object Desktop. Which trials did you download from Stardock to try.

My system; 2.4 gig celeron, 1 gig ram that only runs at 266 due to the celeron. I run most of Object Desktop Ultimate and have no slowdown issues at all. When using WindowBlinds it is faster than default Windows.

(just stating this; system slow down is something crack/pirated versions cause.)

https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/

I clicked on the free icon. Did you check there?? I may have said Object Desktop but meant Object Dock.

Well, you must have read the same article I did if you know this too. (just stating this)

I have a $75 paypal gift card burning a hole in my cyber-pocket & have forever wanted to run this software.

I'm not sure what your trying to imply here but you can just stop right now. (just stating this)

Thank you to the first poster for the quick reply.

I cant understand why people say these type of things....
I have only 256mb of memory with P4 2.4 and I have tried almost all the customization softwares of stardock and they run swiftly even when I run iTunes, opera, coreldraw and some other softwares at the sametime. There are some Dx or WB skins which may get a bit heavy but you can try something minimalistic.

If you want a real-world number,OD is using 1,676kb of ram @0%cpu on my machine as I type this(8 mo.old HP,AMD64@2.4Gz,1.5Gb ram,Vista Home Basic.)
I've used the free version since this PC was 1 month old.It has never failed, cleaned my desktop of icons, and generally been a heck of a fine program. There is a setting for lower ram use in config if you need it,but I certainly don't.

No need for me to, I use ObjectDock Plus.

You may have meant ObjectDock, but you also stated

Ultimate package

ObjectDock Plus is not part of Object Desktop Ultimate, it is a separate purchase.

Not implying anything, you may have downloaded a cracked version from somewhere you trusted and not known it was a crack.

My system specs are well below yours, I have a standard dock, with 12 shortcuts and 4 docklets, a tabbed dock with 7 tabs, 5 for various shortcuts, one for system tray one for running tasks.
Current ram usage 44,152, VM usage 39,388. This is with all settings in config set to best/highest quality and for memory set to Optimized for performance.
No effect to system speed.
It may be that when you tried it in the past you had a bad docklet, poorly created, and that was causing your system issues.

yeah i have never had memory/and or speed issues whatsoever with my machine. Runs like a dream. Also runs faster too than the default as Cavan1 stated. I have always been very happy about purchasing stardock software. :)

OD on my presario s5020an 2.0 GHz AMD with 1 gig ram & 256MB VGA PCI card
27,101K or 27,936K of ram is allocated
OD is at idle of 0% of cpu when it is not being used, when i do mouse over it uses 5-10%cpu

Any so called slow down on your system is to do with some other program or programs, perhaps it's time to reformat as your spose'd to do so once a year more often if you install & uninstall a lot, keep an eye on your task manager & see what resources are being used & by what

Maybe you could download the free version of Object Dock and the trial of Windowblinds and see how they work for you now? Disable internet and antivirus before installing, reboot before and after installing each. I agree with everyone else that it shouldn't be a problem (unless maybe you're really weak in the graphics card department?).
