A dangerous practice

Changing email addresses

Sorry to bring this here, but this is a very dangerous practice.. Sending passwords over email is a huge security risk, not to mention a danger for scams.

You guys should make a secure page to get these things done, and please, make it easy to find.. I hate getting the runaround.

YOu can't stick your head through the monitor and Brad will all of a sudden say 'That's BeastMTL, he's in my hockey pool'

It is a matter of verification. We don't require a great deal of personal information for setting up accounts on purpose. However we won't allow just any one to change email, or any account information, with out verification. Things may change as we build into the new systems we are working on like Impulse. However for now this is still the best way for us to make sure that it is you.

Also please refrain from posting support responses directly into forum posts.

If you have any troubles with your account changes or have questions please let me know.

It might be better to ask for random letters from the password like you need to login to bank accounts.

Geez....gettin out of bed these days is a dangerous practice. Besides....if anyone steals my info to steal anything from me....it would only be practice.

We have been asking for the same type of verification for over 10 years and have never had an issue.

It is our policy to request that type of information, and we plan to continue to use this policy.

To be clear about this, the only time that is requested (or your serial number) is when you are wanting to change your email address.  If you email for support from your registered email address, no information is requested.

I'd say a really good idea would be sites accepting biometrics... When touch screens become more common, to have a person enter their fingerprint....

You could always just write your info down and drop it in a FedEx overnight box. :d
