Question regarding TA map editor

Hello!
I've recently acquired the ultimate bundle through Impulse, and didnt wait long to start working on a custom map, which I'll post here when its done. Have some quick questions:

Once I finish adding the stars and do a randomize planets and resources, I want to manually edit the Sol system to include our planets with their respective textures, just like in the random generated maps in sandbox games. How do I do that?

I figure I'll have to manually assign each race its home system, what about minor races? Are they randomized at game start or are they disabled in custom maps?

you can only have 5 planets per star.

Yep, the maximum is Five per system.

But (indirectly), you might want to have a look at replies #5 & #23 in this thread... Big Planets before you jump to conclusions.

Anything is possible if you just work at it long enough - ask NastyTang! :)

You misunderstood me, im not planning on adding the whole lot, just 4 or 5 like in sandbox games, earth, mars, venus, mercury and jupiter if im not mistaken, i just want to know how to give them the special textures so they look like earth etc., do I just name them correctly on the editor or do I have to manually edit the file in notepad or is it just impossible?

I don't believe the map format has any provision for custom textures.

Oh, then that can only be done through proper loading of a "CustomPlanets.xml" (possibly from a mod folder, btw) where HomeStar & Planets are defined as you'd want to; tricky thing is that this can only (almost) be "used" effectively by a random map setting while starting up any new games.

There are also numerous threads below which explains exactly how. Even the forum stickies above have some clear hints on the process.

Well, that's a shame... I'll look up those threads, hoping to find something usefull.
Thanks for the replies!
