Can you post the event log of the error?
Thanks,
Paul
If this is not a trial version and you have ODNT:
Is this builder mode,or client? Are you launching DX from the ODNT launchpad or at startup? If so,stop DX from running at start-up.Then launch it from the start menu or desktop shortcut instead. There may be a bug with the launchpad,DX will crash from there with Vista.
For screenshots you will need to upload your image to a hosting site, like imageshack, and insert the link you get from there into your post.
If you have DX running ,r-click the systray icon, select configure>preferences. Then uncheck run automatically. You will need to do this for both client and builder modes.
Keep in mind that any widgets you have running at startup (of extension .exe) will in turn load DesktopX as they require this runtime environment. Though they may have the extension .exe, widgets are not standalone.
Generally clearing the object/widget/gadget cache can get things to run smoothly again. Try running this batch file:

As you can imagine this is very frustrating and I appreciate everyones help.
Thanks,
Paul
If you uninstall and reinstall DX without rebooting,it will work fine
If you reboot again, the cycle is repeated.Sound right?
I'm not real experienced yet with DX,but it sounds like a startup program is conflicting with it to me,something that loads before you try DX.Good luck.
Thanks,
Paul
This looks like a problem with UAC. I had the same problem after installing SP1... To solve it you just need to use Stardock's Tweak Vista. Please look here: https://forums.wincustomize.com/300330
what dtx version number?
has been happening from the begining or after maybe windows or av updates?
I'm using the full version and I've gotten widget errors which seem to be due to scripting or the version of dtx the widget was made with
have you tried the regular Stardock Support page?
you should get an email back with both a serial and download link for the latest version of what you bought, to which you are entitled
try: saving the download from the link receive
uninstall the one you have installed (move any downloaded objects, themes, etc)
{or after you move stuff you want to keep - you can try: The Zapper - made to uninstall SD apps - and you really want to move stuff to keep 1st} - I think it works with Vista
run a cleaner like CCleaner to clear files and registry
reboot
install from the download
reboot
