TEC Carrier spam the new OP Strat?

Few things stood out when I read the new Beta patch notes

-Cielo Command Cruiser:
-Designate Target damage bonus increased from 25% to 40%.

-Carrier frigates rebalanced to have 2-3 squadrons and be relatively less expensive per squadron.

-All anti-strike craft frigates' base DPS reduced by 43%.

Seems that with the reduction of FLAK/Anti Strikecraft DPS, Increase in Squadrons per Carrier and the Cielos increase to damage almost doubling , kind of seems like TEC Carrier and Cielo will be pretty OP.

Well considering a few flaks could easily dismantle A LOT of squadrons, I don't think this will do much even with the new bonuses.

I wonder this myself. Already a good 12-15 squadrons of fighters or bombers cause grief in a fleet without anti-strike frigates. How many more anti-strike frigates will be needed to take these additional squads down?

They're just giving fighters the role they deserve. As the game stands, fighters are not a good investment because of the effectiveness of flak. THis is going to give a sufficient buff, and really, it's meant as the counter to the illustrious lrf. The Illum was only debuffed slightly to put in on par with the lrm. What's happened now is that the fighter will actually be able to counter the lrf.

I don't fear fighters. Every race has some ability that screws them up bad, well, except Vasari.

TEC have the flak burst on the Kol and the Magnetize ability on the Dunov. Either will destory fighters, though flak bursts takes micro management and several rounds.

Advent is king here, as the Halcyon has the super mondo bitch slap of death for fighters. It does damage to all within range, pushes them away, lowers their acceleration, and slows down their top speed. I dunno if Animosity on the battlship works on fighters.

Vasari only have jam weapons on the devestator, and that only stops the units from firing. What is nice though is the Vasari carrier has a health cloud that will heal the Vasari fighters/bombers, so a Vasari player can lean on that I guess. Vasari may just be stuck building flak.

O, and imo the cielo needs to have an op ability. Vasari has the subverter, Advent has the guardian, they better give something good to the TEC. Looks like the Cielo is their answer.

Two or three squads per cruiser... makes them a viable ship now. Nice for Anti-lrm. a squad of 15 ( with 30+ bombers/fighters ) is a legitmate force to be reckoned with. Jump into a grav well, pop a few cruisers, and jump out before they got to you. Or jump in, drop the PJI and hangers prepping for the real force 30 seconds behind. Wonder how much damage that would do to a cap ?

Add in the Cielo 40%, plus the techs for missiles ( 30% ), and it's a nasty combo. Certainly ups the speed of the game. An attacking force can be hammering you long before your cruisers/caps can get them in range.

Going to have to run a scenario with 15 Kodiaks versus 15 carriers cruisers once 1.1 is out. It might be actually be close, depending on initial distance seperating the squads. 30-45 fighters might actually kill a few kodiaks from across a grav well, enough to at least even the score. And since the strike craft don't evaporate for a time after thier carrier dies, it wouldn't affect the damage done by the carrier group. Interesting..
