Urgent.....unstable icon packages...

hi to all

i m using windows vista ultimate

well i have icon packager 4.0... and its registered....but i m facing a big problem...

this icon pacger that i have...it came with 3 icon sets already in it..... slicer...vista feel etc..... they are gud....when i apply them..they get applied and works welll
but when i downloaded sum icon packages from win customize and deviant art......n loaded.....then applied.....they get applied...but they are unstable....SPEACIALLY folder icon......it gets reverted to vista default icon......in ALL new downloaded packages.....literally in ALL...

so now i m using only its built in icon packages...

alongwith this.....when i apply icon set.....it produces a desktop.ini file....that i delete.....it is generated on desktop......what i do abt it...keep it ...if to keep...then where...

plzzz help me soon..

The desktop.ini shows because you have show hidden files and folders checked in the folder options menu.



About the other issue.....not sure. Sorry

how to know that they r vista compatible or not...cuz i downloaded them from wincustomize.org from its new files......i think new files must b vista compatible...but still how wil i know it is compaitble or not

Look in IP config. and select the Live folders tab. If the IP is shown there it is Vista compatible.When you use a set that isn't Vista ready,you can pick a folder to use from one of these. Most are marked Vista ready if they have live folders and 256x256 icons. I hope this helps.

well...thanks for ur kind info...i checked my icon packager...its not enhanced...its normal... its v4...so it dun let apply themes with live folders..

is there any way that...in this normal version...folder icons dun get reverted...

iconpackager 4......is it vista compatible??

IP v4 will let you use live folders from other packages,like I said.Here is what to do.
Apply an icon package(not one that is working with vista)
Go to the live folders tab and select slicer vista since we know it has live folders
Mark the second radio button"If the icon package has live folder icons defined,then use it,otherwise use the live folder icons selected below"
Apply changes.Now you should have your selected icon package but be using slicer vista live folders.
You can do this with any combination of icon packages.I hope I made sense.Good Luck.

well i have found its solution.....i thought to share it with u all...

even in free public version.....u can apply even non vista icon packs.....for win vista :D:D

ok do as i tell u stepwise....

1. load an icon set in icon packages tab
2. apply it..
3. non vista icon packs wil apply rest but wil not apply to live folders..
4. go to icons n cursors tab
5. click on folders
6. u wil see live folder front n back on default icon choice...
7. right click on it..n click Change icon
8. a new window will popup..select ur icon set from left panel
9. give it the folder icon u want..
10. aplply changes...(tab at right top)

now this icon package will work fine...even on rebooting too :P

but u have to do it everytime u apply new package

but in my win vista i noted sumthing....i did this step once..now when i apply non vista icon package...it applies with live folders

if u wil edit icons 1st n then apply icon set completely.....u will ruin windows default icon sets too n it has no undo option...so keep in mind to do as i told u
