With the AI players handling starship combat better, I may have to step down a notch on the AI settings :) I've really got to finish my current game and upgrade! Should be soon, I've got a starship catapult finished, and I'm stockpiling constructors, AAMs and Excaliburs in that sector. It will be a brute force ending :)

I want 1.04! but I can't get at the betas (no Drengin.net) Oh the pain!!! (:(

Please, please, please Stardockians consider moving 1.04 out of beta before leaving for E3! ;)

LordTheRon, You beat me this time announcing yet another upgrade. Now go and finish that super score you promised The European Alliance ;)

I refreshed my stardock central at 8:30 pm Eastern, and there is no 1.04 beta.
Was it removed?

You have to be a Dregin.net subscriber to access beta patches. They should be available to all users through SDC in a few days though.

Yeah baby! Thanks Stardock.

I have a drengin.net subscription but I don't see the option to download the new patches. Stardock Central software entry for Galciv shows 5/9/2003 in the "updated" field, but no "action".

Do you have show pre release checked?

I take it that only works with the Drengin.net option? 'Cause it didn't do anything for me.

I'm betting the 'fixed starship move calculation' stops the deal where if you had 6 range left but enemy was 7 away you could click to attack him and you'd get that attack after moving 6 (instead of being out of moves before attacking). Anyone confirm that?

Looks like a good patch, looking forward to when it comes to 'regular' SDC for download. :)

Am in the middle of a gigantic game I need to finish before I update but any idea how the new military calculation works taking defense into account. It would certainly help as I always get attacked by the AI now early as I refuse to build crap like the star fighter. Am also intrigued by the AI now taking relationships into account. That would also be a nice step as well. Keep up the good work guys, it is appreciated.

I'm confused about the relation between drengin.net and SDC ... I thought that one did not need a sub to drengin.net to have access to the betas (but maybe I'm just confused).

My relations have been relatively easy to maintain thusfar. Hopefully this hasn't become TOO easy. I'm working on an intelligent Gigantic game at the moment. Me, being neutral helps of course, but I went from wary to warm with the Yor pretty quickly.

There's a seperate sticky thread on this, but if a release is marked as "beta" then only Drengin.net subscribers can get to it (because of security measures on stardocks servers).

The various incremintal releases (for example 1.03A.57) can be downloaded through the SDC by anyone who has bought Galactic Civilizations.

The "stand alone" releases are hyperlinked ON the GalCiv.com website in the downloads section and do not require the SDC program. These are consider very stable releases which have gone through various quality control procedures (of which we are all a part hehehe ;)). You will still need your registration number to download them of course.

So... basically if you are not a Drengin.net subscriber you have to wait until Stardock removes the beta tag from 1.04 (another great perk for the subscribers!)

I hope they do this soon though for 1.04... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I NEED MY FIX!!! I WANT 1.04! NO I *NEED* IT! PLEASE! PLEASE! BRAD! CARI! SCOTT! ALEX! SOMEBODY!!!
(geeze can you tell I have become completely addicted to this game yet? LOL )

"fixed starship move calculation" means that some bonuses weren't being immediately calculated at the end of a turn and so ships that were in fleets weren't getting the bonuses until they were taken out of the fleet.
