Custom race question

I was wondering if it's possible to create a custom race that uses Dread Lord hulls and if so then how do you go about this (detailed description please)? I would be very grateful for any assistance on this matter.

Not directly, as far as I know.

But you can use Kryo's Hull System Mod to gain access to the DL hulls.
