there is a book about the new game tom clancy's endwar, the book is very good and i think will help add to the story.

i don't honestly think there will be books about sins though, i mean i don't think there is anyone who would want to write a book.

a short story on the forums would be cool though.

However, I find most books based on games/movies/etc. are pretty poorly written and not worth the time to read them. If a good author would take up the project and come up with a decent story, I think there's some good material to work with though.

Then what about this... COMICS!!! Star Wars has them, hell, SERINITY has them! Why not Sins?

Actually some very good sci fi authors pay the rent by writing books based on movies/games etc. Next time in a bookstore check out the authors names on TV series/movie etc books and the 'regular' sci fi/ fantasy books, you'll find many of the same authors in both areas.

I am going to reply with something that will make me extremely unpopular. Something that will sound hypocritical due to the starcraft and warcraft books out there. However this is something that I feel is true: Before any sort of SINS book can be released there needs to be a campaign and therefore we must wait for the expansion. *puts on flame proof suit* FLAME ON!

I agree; they end up being contrived and tend to have little depth. Let's hope no one tries to make a Sins movie.

either a campaign or a well established canon that would need to be followed. the current back story is fun but it lacks a certain amount of depth. im sure it was intentional, but there really isnt enough there to build a complete story framework without inventing a lot of content.

trek and starwars books are a dime a dozen because there is so much to pull from. i cant image how difficult it would be to form a complete novel length story from the original material.

Actually, it's EASIER to form a complete novel from a universe that doesn't have a lot of canon yet! The author doesn't have to be familiar with all the lore and assets that have already been released and they can use their imagination more to fill in the gaps. There's a lot less of a chance that the result will have "fluff errors" in it that will make them look bad and cause the fanbois to indignantly scream.

Imagine writing a WarHammer piece of fiction and presenting it to an audience that in all likelihood would know more about it than you do. They'll rip it apart.

think of the dungen and dragon people they have libarys which they need to know to avoide being ripped appart but if there isnt enough back story then the novel wont be and good. we need more canon for this to work but some good ones could come out but there is also the posibility of bad ones as well.

So, a book+expansion all in one?

Sins of Solar Empire novels? That is an interesting idea. Maybe I should write one: Sins is an nice background. I have ample time this summer. Ummm... Maybe... Im not sure.
