gui text problem! D:

having problems with black text on black background

i'm using a 3rd party visual style with windows xp (concave to be exact).

i installed it a few days ago, and decided to make it my default theme. however, i've run into some gui annoyances. mainly black text over black background. i've been through every setting in the advanced apearance tab in the control panel, and i've downloaded about a million different registry editors and visual style editors, but i can't seem to find the setting for this one bit of text.

example:

if i right click on a folder and select properties, most of the text in the window is black. (see image below)

my question is, is there a way to change the font color using native-to-windows settings or do i need a program, and if so, what program would you recomend if you know of any?

I don't think StarSkin from RocketDivision is part of StarDock's Object Desktop - have you tried asking at their forums?

it's not using starskin, it's actually a visual style running natively in windows. i'm actually looking for like a registry or resource editor to customize the system font colors that aren't available in the regular system settings. also, where those settings are located?

Most of the skins here are Windowblinds skins created with SkinStudio. Not sure how much help you'll find here with what you're trying to do.

Its hard coded I imagine MS wanted the text black (or white for dark backgrounds) only.
You could ask highasakyte or whatever his name is that wrote the patcher.
Windowblinds is way safer and does much more.

Yeah short of patching your system it cant be changed in a VS or a WB.

well, i found an interesting workaround. it was a simple program that can even be used in conjunction with windowblinds! :D

it's called style toolbar (google it).

it has tons of features for customizing windows ui that's harder to change using themes, but the best one is a simple button you can click which replaces all dark text with lighter text. also, as a plus it takes up VERY little ram.
