Federation and Empire

Federation and Empire

This had begun as a collection of starships based upon the Star Fleet Universe and other sources and has now evolved into the development of a full complete mod.

What you can expect to see:
9 custom major races to choose:
United Federation of Planets; Klingon Empire; Romulan Star Empire; Kzinti Hegemony; Lyran Star Empire; Hydran Kingdom; Gorn Confederation; Tholian Holdfast; and the Interstellar Concordium.

8 Custom minor races.

Custom technology trees and weapons set up for each race.
Custom player useable shipstyles for every race.

2 Custom Immense Maps: "Federation and Empire" and "The General War"

Custom Campaign: "ISC Invasion"

Starship sets are being developed now and available for use here:

http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?a=2985422

I gladly accept ideas for this mod and collect ships that you make to add to the ship sets. Feel free to share your ideas. I'd love to see your screenshots as well.

Almost right. It was Defiant not Reliant that had the cloak. But it wasn't the first Federation Ship to have a cloaking device. There was the Oberth-class, USS Pegasus that had the experimental and illegal interphase cloaking device.
That was STNG episode: The Pegasus

Gosh I am such a nerd. :)

AF_Ronin is right, Riker was the only member of the Pegasus crew not to mutiny it was even a part of the final episode of Enterprise, Riker was deciding to tell Picard about the interphase cloak so he plays around on the NX-01 for a while.

Also AF_Ronin, thanks for not adding the BoP as a starter ship for the Klingons. I really looking forward to seeing what is next for this mod, it started off on a good foot and keeps getting better.

Unknown126351454, said that his game crashed when he started the game with the Federation Ship Style.

Has anyone else who downloaded and followed the instructions for the 3rd Edition of Federation Ships have a similar problem?
ah ok. Well I assume you are trying to play the humans. Go back to the original techtree they have and try again.

Great job on the Ships Ronin, top man.

I am quite new to the GacCiv universe so a bit of a dumb question probably.

For the TA expansion, I have transferred all the Federation ship files to the relevant areas and they appeared to work ok.

Is it possible to have a specific AI races use one of the other shipsets i.e. Klingon.
If so, where would I place the downloaded Klingon files.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't think you can change the AI races in Campaign.... though, don't quote me on that :)

In non campaign, when you get to the select opponoent screen, select a race, then you should see the option to edit them. Go into that screen and you can choose ship style in there... Providing you've installed everything correctly.

Ah ok, thanks for the reply.

Having them in the non-campaign is pretty cool though.

Good. Glad it works now.

Hello AF Ronin: First of, I would like to say that you have done a fantastic job on the ships. You have a hard core Trekor here. Was a boy watching the very first show of the orginal series. As a avid gamer, I began with the very basic Zocchi game and models. Moved to Star Fleet Battles and the miniature gaming, untill the rule book got to be about 10 pounds. Still love to set up and play Federation and Empire. Even had FASA's Combat Simulator and miniatures. Untill they ran into copyright problems. I got to thinking on how it would be nice to see Star Trek items in this game. And here you show up. Been having a ball playing with your ships. And you have provided me with the insperation to make a few of my own. Would like to share them with you. I have made some Gorn and Klingon ships. The Gorn are based off of your Light Cruiser design. I made a Freighter/Tug and a Medium Weight Troop Carrier. It can hold either 1,000 Legions or 4,000. Depending which pods you are using In SFB, the Gorn Tugs were suppost to be based off the CA class, but looked more like a CL in the setup. Added two hook/claws on each wing and a center one that would be on a extending boom. The center one would pull a saucer shaped pod. The design could also be used as a FPS Tender, when added as part of a FPS Fleet. Just leave the side hooks bare. My Klingon ships are based off the Reconition Manual. Made the T-5 Assault Ship. Was not intended, but it does look a lot like your D-7. D-16 Destroyer, and K-4 Gunboat. I am still trying to figure out how to double stack the engine units like you have. Mine are always offset, no matter what I do. Perhaps you can show me the "trade secret". Let me know if you are interested in seeing the ships. Can't wait to see what you will have for the Tholians. I have not checked out your Gorn ships yet but as for your Klingons the only one I found that was working was your D-2. But I did like it. So I'm tweeking it a bit and will include it in the update. In fact I'm making a medium hull version of it and it will be the starting "flagship" for the Klingons.
Nice job Atlas. As for the other ships I couldn't get working. If you could provide screenshots and post them here that would be great.

What will you be uploading next? I like the Federation ships but there needs to be a survey ship class since I looked in the shipyard and found there was no survey class.
Well you start the game with the Federation ship package the Republic class ship will appear as your flagship/survey ship. The hulls themselves in the ship yards are deliberately left blank so you may choose what your "survey" ship is; "scout" ship; "destroyer"; "cruiser". You get the idea.

Klingons are being fixed next. Then Gorn. Then Romulans. After that I get back to work on the Kzinti I postponed on. Going back to the Tholians after that since I got another idea how to pull it off. Their geometric design is difficult to emulate. Next comes:

Lyran; Hydran; and ISC.

Those are it. Next on the list after that is the Federation and Empire mod itself with a unique combat system; unique tech trees. Minor races (with their own ships)are: Orion Pirates; Seltorians; WYN; LDR; and Andromedan Invaders.

Wonder if it would be possible to do the reaction moves and reinforcement moves, I am thinking the reinforcement is not possible but maybe the reaction move would be possible by having the ships in a constant sentry mode and they would attack another ship if the moved into sensor range?

Well I am looking forward to the full scale mod looks like it will be a lot of fun. Question for the everyone playing with the ship packs. For now what current race personalities are you using for the current factions I mean yeah Terrans for the Federation but what about the Romulans, Klingons, and Gorns?

I started off with the Klingons being the Dregin but slave pits seems even too evil for the Empire of Steel, so I switched them to the Korx, and I am using the Altarians as the Romulans even though they are not the super spies but the Kynn want to spread their religion which doesn't seem Romulan, the Gorn are the Drath just because they are reptiles too.

I am glad to hear the Klingons are next, I really love the 3rd Federation pack, and normally I play as a Federation like faction but lately I am in a Empire of Steel mood all the way. You know not slave pit evil but say hello to my D7 cruisers diplomacy.
Not sure which one but one of the Devs described Klingons as evil Arceans. Anyway instead of slave pits there will be concentration camps and such in the custom tech tree.

Kzinti could be nicer Drengin. Lyran would be nastier maybe Korath. ISC is Krynn. Tholians should be custom but make them xenophobic with super isolationist. Not sure on the rest.

But I'm always open to suggestion. That's why I started this OP.

Speaking of the Tholian web, does anyone remembeer General Pants' component mods? I wonder if they still work with TA, cause I remember him have a part that was an energy beam that connected some parts together? I wonder if we could get that to be invisible I would really like it so you could build a bunch of fighters in formation linked by an invisible jewel, yeah they would always stay in formation but it would still give the feel of a bigger battle. Because you know carrier based war is a must for F&E. I was think that the warp bubble is the game's answer. Just set it where all ships go at the fastest ships speed, ie the carrier and the "carrier component" might also have to give a negative logistic bonus as well.

As far as the Klingons with concentration camps, yikes I am not sure that's wise, might been a bit insensitive, also I don't remember ever reading that the other races of the empire being treated all that bad, yeah second class citizens but not work camp treatment.

Great work on the ships and love them...I loved the FASA star trek and kept hoping that one day I would see my Chandley class frigate make it in there!! One question if you dont mind AF, I got your ships working fine and noticed that they take on the appropriate color of your race, and im wondering how did you do that? I have some ships im trying to put in(star trek ones) and no matter what I do they stay the white color. I even was able to pick on in the template, yet its color was still white. I must be missing a step or something.

Thanks!!

Edit-Ahh now I see...all of your ships are made from the hulls and such in the game, while my ships arent. That makes your's all the more impressive!! Im suspecting now thats why I cant change the color on mine. Oh well :)

I'd certainly call Rua Penta a prison labor camp. If you are more comfortable with that I'm fine. As for the Romulans they get Reman slave camps.

Oh and jmccrea, thanks for the compliment.
I agree with you on Rua Penta AF, defiantly a labor camp, and undoubtedly the Klingons would have them. Remember, AJ, many of the different races out there dont care about what is sensitive or PC even. Klingons, CArds, maybe even Romulans, and others could have these and call them names we would prefer not to see. Federation could even have labor camps, though by what name I dont know. Doesnt Voyager start out with Capt. Janeway going and getting Paris from one?
Yeah you have a point I forgot about Rua Penta, though I might not call them "Concentration camps" just because its not a good PC term to use but that is totally just a me thing, but yeah I totally see where your going with that, it does fit.

Though wasn't Rua Penta more a pineal colony or prison camp? Which I guess mean that they might be more than just industrial centers but have a law and order bonus to them because they would deter crime while giving you an industrial output at the same time. Now I haven't check slave pits might already do that anyway.

It might also be interesting then, if its possible, to link them to the jail break event that is linked to the galaxy prison center. See some pirates bust out a kind of balance to the double positive of them?

Well...I have set up the Gorn, Klingon, Romulan, Kzinti, and Borg as new AI races for my game. Granted, the AI does not always build the right ships. But it is fun to see the D-7's and Bird of Prey zipping around. For anyone interested. I have the Gorn use Arcean Tec. Seems to really suit them. Klingon's use Drengin of course. Romulan are using Torian right now. But I may change that. And the Borg use Yor Tec. I have the Dread Lord Ship Style mod to my game. So I am letting the Borg use that as their ships. Untill I can get some cubes built up and that. The Kzinti of course are all set up...through the mod from here. Just itching to see his ships for them. Like the look of what he has done so far.
yea,yea....I hit the R instead of the D. So feed me to the tarqus......   And I ment that Defiant was the first Federation ship to have the Cloak and not be in Treaty violation. Everyone knows that Pegasus was a "secret and unoffical" operation. That was in violation and Enterprise stole the cloak to begin with.

Ok this is addressed to anyone but Atlas:

Has anyone while playing with the 3rd Edition of Federation ships not have my Mayflower; Prospector; and Republic classes appear as your starting ships.

They won't say they are those classes: Republic-class will call itself Surveyship class or something like that. But the ship models will be identical. And they work correctly despite not seeing a survey module on the Flagship it will still survey anomalies (game adds those automatically).

Also note: My ships other then the starting ships are blank hulls. Its up to you to decide what is the speciality of that class is. When you finally research the Medium Hulls the blank Republic class will finally appear in the shipyard but it will not be a survey ship. Its up to you to make it one if you so wish.

Here is the Klingon ships that I have designed and Ronin has asked that I post shots of. The first one is the D-2 Stingtongue (V'kar Zadan). A Destroyer that Ronin is planning on making as the starting Survey Cruiser
