Racial trading techs seems to make things a bit easier

I like the option to trade techs, I feel like with it turned off I don't have too much interaction with the various AI, but with it turned on it really seems to make the game quite a bit easier. I think partly because the AI does not value its unique techs nearly as much as it should. There are a lot of great 5% type global bonus techs you can get off the AI for peanuts, and they really add up after a while.

I am not sure how aggressive the AI is about getting those techs from each other, but they really give a big advantage to the player. I have heard talk about adding another game setting to disable race specific tech trading, and I think that would help quite a bit, either that or have the AI a little more careful about giving away their racial techs.

The AI seems to charge me an arm and a leg for those techs. At the same time, it's really nice to have a 100% bonus to your base morale. When I went to the Thalans for their research-cheap global bonus techs, they wanted most of my savings or around 5 times the RP worth of my techs.

I paid in techs. And then I paid in techs to the Torians for theirs, and the...

i turn off tech trading because of this. Part of the neat thing is the unique tech trees, tech trading just ruins that. An option to turn off unique tech trading should be provided. Unique techs are already flagged in the tech tree (little racial symbol in the corner if its unique, even if its one of the shared unique techs). It shouldnt be that hard to just set it so only generic techs are tradeable.

I thought the idea of racial tech trees was to make them play differently from one another, not just give them a slightly different set of bargaining chips and a uniqueness only for the first few rounds.

This is a shame because tech trading is a nice thing for making money or helping out an ally.
