RightClick Skin Editor

RightClick Skin Editor will not run on my computer.  Keep getting 'report to MS' type error messages every time I attempt to run it.  Tried reinstalling RightClick from StardockCentral, but that didn't work either.   Is it possible to just download a new copy of that program?  All the other StarDock programs seem to work fine.  Only having problems (as far as I know) with the Skin Editor.  Any help appreciated.  Tnx...

Vista?
RightClick is not certified for Vista yet.
Tested in XP and all seems well running skintool.exe

No, XP. Every time I attempt to run it I get the following error. "Skintool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience...Please tell Microsoft about this problem."

Can't copy the error report contents or I'd add it here. Is there an 'error log' file attached to skintool?

Tnx...

From the readme:
The bundled RightClick skin editor tool requires a recent version of the .NET Framework 2.0 runtimes
to be installed. Visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=7ABD8C8F-287E-4C7E-9A4A-A4ECFF40FC8E&displaylang=en.

You have that?

Thought I had everything up to date but installed the file at the link you suggested. Now get the following error - "Skintool.exe - Fatal error...CLR error:80004005. The program will now terminate.

I don't think the Skin editor's worked for a while. You can use Skinstudio to make RightClick skins.

To be honest it's really just as easy to use notepad. Open up one and look at the contents.

Thanks for the info. Wish I'd know this at the beginning... :)

End of quote

I use the skin editor all the time. Any skin I make for RC is done through that...
