Werid Computer Strategy

I was playing SINS last weekend as Advent.  It was a 6 free for all on a 3 star system map.  The computer was getting really on my nerves.  When i jump one of my fleets over to attack a planet, the enemy planet's defending fleet would jump to the planet i left open with just my defences.  Then i would jump back or send another fleet to rescue the planet, then the comptuer jumped to another unoccupied planet.  Then i got all the forces cornered in on planet but then i couldn't win cause there were 3 NPC with massives amounts of ships in one planet.  In the end it was pratically a stalemate cause I couldn't attack without lossing all my forces and the NPCs couldn't get out.

Heh. Sounds like an interesting game.

One thing you could do is scuttle some of your ships if required to build a large number of carriers with bombers.

Also, build a number of scouts, say 10 or so, and send them in, departing from the trapping gravity well at a point that will land them in a relatively open area in the planet, and have them lead the enemy on a chase to the other end of the gravwell.

Then warp your carriers in. Immediately shift-select your bombers (which can move very fast) and get them to focus-fire on one of the ships owned by the fleets that DO NOT have any build capability left. As soon as the enemy turns around and starts encroaching on your carriers, get them out of there.

Lather, rinse, repeat. Eventually you'll wear them down to the point where you can assault them with your fleet.

That's what Jump Inhibitors are for. You jump away from your system, fully expecting an enemy attack. If the enemy doesn't attack immediately, you make sure to keep your fleet out of the gravity well, so it can jump back at a moment's notice. When they enemy shows up, you let them drive into your gravity well, and then you jump back. You crunch a good part of their fleet while they're still struggling to jump away, due to the Jump Inhibitor.

It's an attrition tactic, but it works.

Yep. Phase Jump Inhibitors are key. They make the enemy (especially the rabbity AI) pay for incursions into your territory. Also, if you're in that position but have a resource advantage, just defend while you tech up. The AI enemies are very poor at researching, I have found, and with a heavily upgraded fleet with proper support cruisers, you can take on enemies many times your own numbers and win.

Thax for the advice ill try that. About the Inhibitors i have one of those on every planet I own but still they dont help much in my case.

Yeah, it's probably too late for them now - they're only good when the enemy is attacking your planets, not when you have to take the battle to them. The exception is if they try to break out and/or attack you.
