Icons on planets

The last game I played I noticed that one of the other race's planet had a small skull and crossbones icon next to it. What does this icon mean? Is there a list somewhere of all the graphics and what they mean? I have figured most out so far by myself but I'd still like to see an official description.

The skull and crossbones indicate that the Colony is under extreme Cultral pressure from another race. If you click on the Cultral display button, top of main map next to the right side display panel, you can get a report on the cultral influence being exerted on this sector by each of the major races. I have found the if I can exert more than 900 then most colonies will not need too long to come over to my party(race) ;)

Also, if you find it happening to you, and you can't fix it quickly (Purchase a news net or something)...its a good time to try and sell the planet on the trade screen...if you're not going to be able to keep it, might as well get something for it.

For the record, extreme pressure isn't a guarantee you're going to lose it. I had a world in Altarian space that was about 400 influence points back and under heavy pressure, even with News Networks and the like. I held on to the colony for a good forty turns before I decided trying to match Culture with Culture just wasn't working and got around to invading the Altarian system in the sector. My people stopped admiring the Altarians pretty damned fast after that. :D

I guess it must depend on how dramatic the difference is...I've never had a planet last even a dozen turns (once I noticed the flag...which may not have been right away). Any idea what the point difference was...were you just on the cusp of the flag?

what are the asterisks (*) for? I see them sometimes on planets on the planets sidebar....

I noticed last nite though that they were on planets that i had conquered in war....is that what they are there for?

The asterisk stands for undefended systems - those with no ships in orbit.

This one must be in the FAQ, I've seen it appear at least three times. And it's the only one I know the answer to :D
