DeskScapes Does Nothing

I just purchased DeskScapes but loading a wallpaper does absolutely nothing.  I have an MPEG2 Codec and am using Windows Vista Ultimate.  I obtained my copy through the Stardock Online Store.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB.

Hi iRXEVAN

What update level of Vista Ult. Sp1?

What is your cuurent Video Card Driver Vers.? I'm running the Dec 2007 169.25 (last whql driver) from www.nvidia.com.

Do the Windows Dreamscenes (if downloaded and installed from windows update)work fine?

Have you tried the demo Dreams in Deskscapes?

1. I am using Vista Ultimate. When I first posted this bug report I had not installed SP1. After doing some research I found that SP1 (and of course, the extras that come with it) are required to run DS, so I installed it. However, DS still is not working. Double-clicking a wallpaper does nothing, nor does setting it within the GUI.

2. I am also using that driver.

3. I wasn't aware Windows offered dreamscenes, nor do I know how to obtain these.

4. No, I didn't really see a reason to...

5. Yes, I am downloading them from WinCustomize.

I have fixed part of the problem. Installing Windows Dreams fixed it, however, now only a few of my .Dreams files will work. Most of them still do nothing. =/

I'm having a similar problem. I'm running Vista Ultimate (with NVidia 8800 GT OC card witi the latest drivers) and Deskscape no longer works for me. MPEG files seem to play, but Dreams do nothing.

Very odd. Haven't been able to figure out what the issue is.

Everything was asked that I would have said with out checking out system info. One thing I would like to mention is that a Deskscapes udpate is due out early next week. I would advise you, and everyone for that matter, to get the update to the full 2.0 version. Let us know how it goes or email us at support@stardock.com.

If you have had the preview installed and then installed Deskscapes or have updated from 1 version of DeskScapes to another, try this and see if it will fix your problem.

Uninstall deskscapes.
After uninstalling deskscapes, manually delete the "C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Deskscapes" directory and the "C:\Program Files\stardock\object desktop\deskscapes" directory if the uninstall process didn't delete them.
Reboot.
Install the newest version of deskscapes
Reboot.
At this point it should work

I had a similar problem after the last update, and then, unrelated, I tried out Impulse. Decided to uninstall deskscapes and reinstall again (had done this once already using Stardock Central) - except this time I did it in Impulse.

have no idea why, but now it works again.

Vista 32 bit home basic. geforce 8800 gts. drivers 174.74.

And now that its working, I've archived it this time, lesson learned.

Which ones don't work?  Video or dynamic?  If you don't know just list which ones work (the dream names).
