No longer responding to graphic driver commands

Hi,
For sometime now i have been having a problem. everytime i run a game, 3-4 minutes after running it the screen goes black then it gets back on and i get an error saying "Vpu Recover has reset your graphic accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands"(the screen goes black and back on something like 2-3 times before i get this error)
this happens when i play Gears of War and UFO Extraterrestrial. I dont seem to get it when i play CS 1.6 or heroes 3.
at the beginning i thought that this issue is related to my graphic drivers but the latest Ati update didnt seem to fix it...
i have redeon x1650 and i installed "8-4_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_60999" patch.
i am using windows XP Pro SP 2
AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor 3200+ 2.01 GHz
2,00GB of ram
please help me...
Thanking you in anticipation

What drivers are you currently on? Have you tried falling back on the last set yet?

Hi!
I have exactly some problem and exactly same video card.
I thought it was frying and googled the problem.. and here I am!
I only play Team Fortress 2 and since this is the most demanding game installed on my PC, I didn't bother checking whether I have the same problem with other games..
It usually takes me 20-30 mins to crash though. I also installed the latest drivers and it didn't help.
I started having this problem just a few days ago, and I didn't do anything major with my PC (any updates/upgrades), so I was thinking that the video card is simply dying..

Try the omega drivers WWW Link
I have an X1600 PCIE and the Omega's are MUCH better than the ATI drivers.

I would give the Omegas a try if you are having that much trouble. Has this happened with all games? Even the Stardock ones?

I did indeed install Omega drivers a while back (before you guys mentioned it), but only tested it today - works like a charm. No problems! I also took my vid card and cleaned it of all the dust (my previous All-In-Wonder vid card simply died under the dust and had somewhat similar effects while gaming).
Here is the article that mentioned Omega drivers, it also has a lot of info if it doesn't fix the problem for you.
