3.99.143 doesn't work in vista 64bit and missing icons

ok i just install the lastest IP 3.99.143 from Impulse on vista ultimate 64bit and for some reason i can't launch the program at all.
Not only can't i launch the program but now all my icons in windows have gone blank. so i uninstalled IP then restarted and my icons are still all blank.
I've tried the del IconCache.db but after restarting my icons are all still blank.

From what i know IP has messed up my registry and thinks icons are located in %ProgramFiles% instead of being in C:\Program Files (x86)\

Now i have to reinstall windows as i cant handle all my icons in windows missing.

please fix the bugs.

I have the exact same problem you do. You don't need to reinstall Windows. Just do a system restore to before when you installed IP. Vista should automatically create a restore point whenever it updates (unless you manually disabled it). It may cause you to lose some programs, but it will not affect documents, and is better than nothing.

Anyways, Stardock is well aware of this problem, and has made plans to fix it. I'm not sure how long that will take, though. I'd recommend just staying away from IconPackager until the community here says it's ok. :)

i don't think IP is compatible with 64 bit versions yet.

3.99.143(x64) is working fine for me on vista 64 bit. I would imagine being in beta it still would have a few bugs in it tho. If you really want to help them get it going faster, paste all relevant information Version#'s of IP, OS, and service packs etc..

The more Info you offer them, the easyer it will be for them to isolate the bugs ;)

The SD folks are working hard on it and will have the full release asap..

You can choose any app to install individually through SDC or Impulse.

Yeah. Thanks IconPackager 4, firstly for not even running when I click on the executable, and secondly for making ~75% of the executables on my x64 Vista computer blank icons. Yay. And there is no way for me to fix this as most of the executables can't remember were their icons were. Fantastic, I'm so happy right now. It's amazing, I love wasting my money.

I love wasting my money. I'll make sure to spread the word.
End of quote

You could have easily searched the forums and found out its not yet compatible. A release is coming. I know how you feel as I've had to format because of this.

I could have looked but I hope everyone doesn't really expect me to look up every piece of software I want. Besides I had a hard enough time finding my way back to this forum using Google, none of my keywords matched up with this thread, and there are people out there who aren't having problems...

Getting ready to format in 5, 4, 3, 2...
