Official Forum Suggestion Thread

What would you like to see?

This Summer we're going to be putting a lot of work into enhancing the forums.  But we would like your input in what we prioritize.

Use this post to put in what kinds of features or changes you'd like to see in the forum structure.

Thanks!

For some reason, there seems to be a disconnect between when a post is made and when it actually shows up in a given thread (I frequently see that a new post has been made in a thread but it doesn't actually appear in the thread for a minute or two).

Beyond improving those sorts of delays (especially the ones that lead to people double/triple-posting posts and threads) it already seems like a functional forum to me.

I hate having to refresh every single thread I go to. Every time I click a thread anywhere, it shows me how it looked like last time I was looking at that thread, unless I never saw that thread before. I have to hit refresh every single time to see new posts...
That, and I still have no idea where I can modify my profile, time settings etc...

Thanks for asking, Frogboy.

Minor fix: currently in the summary at the top, the forum listed as containing the post comes up as "sins of a solar empire" when it really is General.

Minor fix: when you edit a post on page 2, the screen refreshes back on page 1 when you save.

Minor fix: POLICY FOR LESS STICKYPOSTS. Important stuff is lost amongst the older noise.

Minor fix: Some threads I spend some time in have very long first posts (example: mods with screenshots), and they're quoted in their entirety at the tops of page 2, 3, etc, and require a fair amount of scrolling to get to the new content. Maybe only show only the first 500 characters of each post at the top, without any embedded images, and have a link that refreshes the window to show the entire first post?

Minor fix: smilies that have correct transparencies and don't look ugly against the black background?

**MAJOR ULTRA FIX*** Please improve forum performance. Unlike any other forum I've been on in recent times, this one sometimes takes a couple minutes before I can guarantee my post made it and was saved.

Make the backgruond and text easier to read. As it is when i close my eyes after reading these forums i see lines/blocks of text, not to mention i can't look at it for very long.

Heres a few suggestions of mine :d

-speed, sometimes it takes 1-2min or longer to post or open a topic.

-Smileys, fix them already :p you have the right ones but are using the smileys that are supposed for white background, and should be using one with black or transparent.
The wrong one :CONGRAT: and the right one

-let us continue to have the html option. I really like the full screen mode when you click the "enlarge editor" :D

-One thing that could be cool is some sort of medal system. Dont show post count, but enable some icons that will appear after a certain amount of posts. Not of much use, but looks kinda cool hehe.

other then that i happy with the forum :D

Can I add an anti-vote for Signatures? They tend to be abused too much.

Ah, yes. Another anti-vote for signatures, animated smileys, and other assorted colorful junk that obfuscates what people are actually saying.

How about a Stardock forum, some place OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL where Stardock news regarding all their games can be combined?

Kryo told me that the databases were together but they were still independent forums for the sake of clarity, but why not have a 'Stardock' forum in between the two?

So that GC2 and Stardock related stuff is on the GC2 forum, and Sins and Stardock stuff is on the Sins forum, but all the Stardock stuff is actually on its own forum that is merely bridged?

This would make tracking your posts about things like the "micropayments" for mini-expansions a lot easier.

Also, bigger 'edit' window than someone just posting after you, and most important: Please make 'show all posts' show ALL posts, not just threads they've made!
