Someone stole my Stellar Forge

Weirdest thing happened tonight. I was playing a custom race with the Arcaean tech tree and built the Stellar Forge on my homeworld. Quit the game, restarted a while later and no SF. I didn't notice for quite a while, I was just barely holding off the Drengin and had other things on my mind. I just noticed my economy was tanking, started looking around and WTF? I was in trouble, no money, getting behind on tech, losing what few ships I had . . . Well, the game taketh away with one hand but giveth with the other. The Dread Lords appeared 3 parsecs away from my homeworld. The next turn I dropped a transport on them and wooohooo, I get to replace my Laser IIs with HD Spike Driver IIIs, and a free planet that will be Class 40 after I build a Weather Control Zenith on it. :CONGRAT: There are going to be some Drengin with very sore bums soon.

Trying to remember what happened, I think I lost my Stellar Forge when the Arcaeans built theirs. I'll see if it happens again next game.

That sounds like a bug. I've not included the Arceans in any game in which I've played a custom race with their tech tree. Interesting. I thought I read somewhere that the Devs changed the SF so that it could be produced by more than one race.

I've found it difficult to play as a custom race against races whose tree I am using. They tend to buy the unique wonders before my first round even starts (losers), and sometimes, they'll build a wonder and it'll take mine away. It's definatly an issue that needs to be looked at.

One thing to do is just prevent the AI race whose tech tree you're using from being part of the game, but that can be limiting.

Maybe something better is to just remove the "Galactic Achievement" moniker from race specific techs. Make them "One per Civ" instead like Econ Capitol, Research Capitol, etc...

I remember my economy was worse than I thought it should have been, and I looked on my homeworld and saw an empty tile. Wow, how did I miss that? I should build a market center there!

Then a few turns later I was like wait a minute . . . that tile wasn't supposed to be empty . . .

Hrm, 6a should have fixed that:

+ TWEAK: Stellar Forge now a super project rather than galactic achievement.

Was your game started with 6a?

In 6a the SF is still listed as a Galactic Achievement in both the build list description and the build completed popup.

Curious, now I can't start a new game with that custom race, as soon as I select the race it crashes every time.

Too late, I was just trying to start a game with them to troubleshoot the Stellar Forge issue, I went back to my game in progress after the crash. If it happens again I'll try to remember to get the debug.
