BUG: Can't continue tutorial without a scroll wheel on my mouse [laptop has no scroll wheel]

I just purchased the game. Online, I upgraded it to v1.03. I ran the tutorial.

A little ways into the tutorial, it tells me to zoom in/out with my mouse wheel. But this laptop does not have a built-in mouse wheel. I can't find any way to go forward in the tutorial without accomplishing this task, so I'm kind of screwed unless I can get some good advice here. (I checked the mouse settings, and there also is no mouse wheel emulation.)

FWIW, this is a Compaq (HP) nc6400 laptop.

Sadly, I bought this game to keep me entertained all day while I'm waiting on a loved one's operation to finish. :(

In general use the 'V' and 'B' keys to zoom...in Version 1.03 you could also use the '+' and the '-' of the num-pad.
Viewing options is a good choice for every new game...

If could turn this into a suggestion, it would be to add that into the text for that part of the tutorial. (I haven't seen a keymap in the paper or electronic manual.)

The manual gets installed in pdf format in the game folder. The keycard is downloadable from the website if you bought it from Stardock.

And in the options are all the key maps active in the game.
