Licence?

Can I keep a Stardock product forever, if I buy it, or shall I rebuy it after a year?

Once you buy it, it's yours to keep and use for as long as you like. However, if you wish to receive updates, you will have to renew the license.

In the case of Object Desktop it is well worth it because we don't just add updates but more programs that would just be a part of your subscription.

Sounds good, it's not a very high price. I thought about buying Object Desktop, but the current version is from 2007. Would it be worth to wait for a 2008 edition?

If you purchase it now (before ODNT 2008 release), you get a free upgrade to 2008 when it is released (expected release date March 31st)

If you buy OD now you get updates for a year, no matter when you start.  Though we put year dates on them, the subscription itself is ALWAYS being updated.  So, no matter what, as long as you have a subscription, you get all the latest stuff.

Just as a note, 2008 subscriptions have some changes in the way they are made.  If you subscribe now, you will get an extra bonus that will save you money.  (We haven't announced all that, so I can't give specifics, but I would urge you to subscribe now if you are going to subscribe).

Just one more question: How do I receive the program, and am I going to pay more than the 49.95 (tax or something)?
The $49.95 price is the download version and that is all you will be charged. If you select the CD version then you will be required to pay a shipping cost on top of the $49.95. When you click the "Buy" button on the link below you will be able to select the one you want.

if if you choose the send me a disk option, you will still be sent an email with your serial and a link to download StarDock Central (aka SDC) - download and install SDC, register your serial and then you can use it to download and install each program in Object Desktop before the disk hits the post office to be mailed to you.

your one ObjectDesktop serial will allow you to download and install all the apps associated with ObjectDesktop

install sdc on the new computer - redownload and install

or

make archives on old computer

right click on any app line in SDC to get to archive options

move to disk

copy to new

install SDC on new, use SDC to restore archived

Yup. If you are the owner of both. (I don't know exactly what the requirements are)

Cool! But how do the program know, that I don't share it with a friend?

You have to activate Object Desktop.  If we start seeing a bunch of different IP's using the same serial, then we look into it.  Otherwise, you can use it on two PC's as long as you own both.  Also, you can always download and reinstall as long as you have an unexpired subscription.  Otherwise, you need to archive your programs to reinstall after your subscription ends.
