Your funnest/greatest games/moments?

A 2v8 Hard AI I just had with a random player named Enfo. He did most of the pulling, doing most of the offensive work. I was on the defensive almost all the time, breaking fleets of AI over and over again, again with the help of Enfo. I lost a planet bordering the star and an asteroid bordering the star probably twice or three times. But we managed to retake them, and eventually take our system and hold it. Once we had our fleets stationed at the star, it was pretty much over. I'd hold the star(Some CRAZY battles ensued, with 3 AI trying to get at my bordering planet, and only my fleet between them and the phase lane.) and he'd take a system, then he'd hold the star, and I'd take a system. Once we had 3 systems, we took the fourth together, and then he went to the last system's star to keep the fleets from jumping in to our system as we were away. It was mostly over, since he had used Novalith c annons(And tons of them) to bombard all their planets in to non-existance.

The first 3 hours(It lasted 4 hours and 34 minutes, plus some reconnecting time. We crashed 3-4 times.) were hectic, and it seemed like I was about fall under the advancing horde at a couple of times. But we pulled through, and took out the 8 Hard Ai. It was a ton of fun. =)

What was your funnest/greatest game, or maybe your shining moment?

Was fighting for the enemies home planet with a pretty average Unity fleet. Things are going well, no real enemies around until bam! a TEC force three times my size zips in. Three cap ships, with the rest being the usual light frig spam. I lose everything but 5-ish illums and my two cap ships, but the light show was amazing. 30 Illums, and 4 guardians doing to main work...it made me fall in love with the Unity again.

I had a great moment last night against the AI about 3 hours into my "Go Big" campaign. I was TEC and was defending a planet on the edge of my possessed space with about 5 cap ships. I had just decided things were relatively quiet enough to send them two skips over to take an asteroid in order to bump up my metal production. Of course, right on cue, right after the first jump, the Advent sent an attach force to that planet I had been defending, so I had my fleet do a u-turn and go back. By the time my fleet got back, almost all of the planet's defenses had been knocked out and they were bombarding the planet itself.

They sent two other waves of ships to that planet, and by the end of it I was down to two badly damaged capitol ships and a couple of sentry guns; the planet had been lost and regained at least twice (used the colonize cap ship upgrade) and I think I lost something like 8 ships total.

I then spent the next couple of hours rebuilding my fleet and slowly climbing up the tech tree. When I finally got up to ten ships I sent them out on a tour of destruction and won the match soon after.

Talk about Zerg rush; it really felt touch and go there for a while. I just kept targeting the enemy's capitol ships and keeping up on my ships' upgrades, and due to my exemplary planetary defense and the ability to keep cranking out capitol ships to join the fight I was able to win that battle. Definitely the most fun I've had in this game to date.

Cheers~

Yeah, it can get really exciting and heartpounding when you're the one about to lose a planet, instead of the opposite way around. =P

My greatest moment was the first release game that I played. The beta AI was almost non existant, and the first game ever I decided to go up against 9 hard AIs. Needless to say, that was a pretty rude awakening, and in the beginning I was scrambling to survive :) Figured it out eventually, after losing and re-colonizing lots of planets, and started to work on killing those pesky AIs.

I still remember eventually cornering one of the AIs that survived to late game, and having a massive 2000 fp vs 2000 fp fleet battle that lasted over 10 minutes :)

As the Vasari, I launched my attack fleets to begin the campaign to bring the rest of the system under my control. First, one system, then I would split my fleets up, one to pursue any defensive fleet, the other to destroy planets. My two main attack fleets lined up and jumped.

At that moment, I remembered I had forgotten to fire my Mega Cannons into the target system to soften it up.

I hastily quick keyed to them, fired, and hoped my timing would be okay, knowing that if my fleets got there too early, they could be hit by the effect.

Watching the projectiles stream into the system, passing OVER my fleets just as they phased in and seeing the impacts in all their glory...ah, that was satisfying. Needless to say, that fight was very much in my favor, with their defensive structures offline and their ships suffering from double shock.

The cleansing that followed was glorious, but the opening salvo...that was a thing of beauty and timing (lucky, though it was) all in one. I tried to coordinate it, but...no way I could have done it that perfectly without forgetting. I love it when a plan comes together...even accidentally.

On an 3 System map vs 7 ai, ffa, I was playing as TEC. I wiped out two AI players and managed to get a choke point. I fortified this area and set it as my staging ground. One fleet was and was busy clearing out the other enemy AI in the system, so I could do a full System Lockdown. A huge enemy AI fleet jumps into my choke point. I was using this Choke point as staging point for my fleets, so I had a huge amount of ships there (70+) The enemy AI jumps in with about ~60 ships, I decide to let the computer duke it out. After about 10-15 minutes, the enemy fleet is being decimated, when another enemy AI fleet jumps in. Now I'm being double teamed, so I rush into micro it. About 20 minutes later I have the upper hand, with more ships jumping into the area from my production planets My fleet that still there was smoking pretty bad, but were still in the fight. Then as I watch the 2nd ememy fleet move to the grave well to exit, a third AI fleet jumps into my choke point. I stalled the fleet long enough for my attack fleet to finally make it back to my choke point, but by this time the poor little colony was lost.

I was probably in combat for a good 30-40 minutes around that one planet. Its then I really realized how epic this game truly was.

A 5v5 I played in a 5 system map. All 10 players located in 2 systems. Being newer then I was, I did my fleet building and all, and got a decent sized fleet. I was co-ordinating with an ally who was on the other side of an enemy, and we got ready to hit him. We both got delayed, as the player hit me, and rebels hit him. I had had no real fleet before, so I kind of surprised him this time, managing to pick off one of his capitals, while no damage was done to me. He then hit one of my 3 planets with a sizable fleet that I thought was his entire fleet. Whoops. I went and hit one of his planets and found a fleet there. He kept sending a ton of reinforcements, which I held out on for a long time, doing a sizable amount of damage to his planet's structures, and his ships, while he demolished my planet meanwhile. I'd had defenses, but they were nowhere near enough. I did some damage there, I suppose. My ally had hit him meanwhile to find out that he had backup, and another(If smaller) fleet. Not sure what happened to my partner overall in that game, but I'm assuming they lost, especially as we had a drop where two of our players became AIs. I built up a fleet of like 40 LRMs at my last planet, and when he came in a huge fleet, I managed to get his level 7 capital ship, atleast. =P

Was my first good online experience.

Hehe..the hidden backup fleet can be surprising.

Yeah. Plus, he had a frigate factory at the planet, so he kept pumping out reinforcements from there too. I eventually went and destroyed it with my fleet, but again, the battle was already lost(Probably had been from the start.)

I ended up replicating him(After I learned that you can set a rally point for your factories on your capital ship.) where I ended up driving someone out of their asteroid early game, because I kept sending reinforcements. =)

Bump. I like hearing these stories.

I had a nice one today. I was planning to rush someone with a Kortul and some Assailants. Turns out, he rushed me first, with a Mothership and some Disciples. I had seen him, and had churned out maybe 6 Assailants to delay. Turns out, I got the bulk of my fleet there before he arrived, so I surprised him. Made him turn tail and run, and followed him all the way. He quit before we got to his planet. One of my teammates was getting demolished, and the guy who was demolishing him was being hit by my other teammate. The guy pulled back after destroying all but the homeplanet which was being slowly destroyed by the capital ship.

The guy sent maybe 30 LRMs to hit this guy's illuminators and capship. He destroyed the capship before he got to the illuminators which were at his homeworld. My fleet was coming in right behind him. My teammate was destroyed by the other enemy. I quickly finished off the remaining enemy, and turned my fleet which was being constantly reinforced to better efforts.

I don't want to say I won it by myself, because I don't think I did. But this was one of the first time that I felt like I knew that I was a driving force behind the victory.
