lan or online one disk.

Can me and my daughter play against each other with one disk cd key?  I have an 8 and a 7 year old daughter.  I have one disk.  can I play against one or both of them?

I have never done lan.  How would I set up lan?  Do I take the cat5 cables on my dsl router out and run them from one computer to the other or can I just leave them plugged into my router?  I have a four port router with all ports currently being used.  It is wired.

Please help!  When I bought or was waiting for the game I noticed something about it being possible to set it up on two computers, I don't really know what that means.  Does it mean I can play both at the same time?  That question is essentially what the other questions above are about.

One key is enough for 2 LAN instances of the game, but Ironclad Online needs unique keys for each game instance.

If your computers are already connected to the router, the network should already be set up. Try running the game and clicking Multiplayer (instead of Ironclad Online) and host, see if the other computers can pick it up.

I'm not much of a network guru, but Monk on these forums will probably be able to help you with any conceivable network issue you might possibly theoretically encounter :P

But yes, essentially, one copy of the game can be played on 2 networked computers. :)

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. That is also what I was thinking but have never tried it. So in essence, my router can probably handle it already.

Hey Monk, if you are out there, or anyone else if you are not, how would I set up the lan for that? Is the stardock software able to bridge my router without my help or do I need to go into network settings? I have one long table with 4 computers hooked up to one wired linksys 4 port router. My 8 year old is the only one that can probably play this game right now. I would also need to know if setting up lan would effect the other 2 comps. I would normally just try things to see what would happen but last time I went mucking around with the router I wasn't able to get it back on-line till 4 in the morning.

Umm...yes I am "out here" :)

In order to play the game on LAN (ie. within your home on 2 of your 4 computers) you do not need to go out to the internet (or ICO) for anything.

1. Find out the IP address of the system you want to use as the host either by going to the "command prompt" and typing ipconfig, OR going to your "network connections" folder from the "control panel" then right-clicking on the "local area connection" then left-clicking on "status" and finally left-clicking on "details". Note that IP address.

2. Start SINS on that computer system, go to "multiplayer", and host/create a game.

3. Start SINS on a second computer system, go to "multiplayer", and in the "address" line (bottom right) enter the IP address you noted down. (leave the port at 6112)

done. :)
