Squadrons are they worth it?

I hardly use ships that sends out squads like the Sova Carrier and the Percheon Light Carrier and I know that other things house squads too like hangers and capital ships, but since they are so puny I have no idea if they do any real damage at all. So are they worth it? Do they have any advantages to any ships? Since they are so small, do huge ships like capitals and cruisers unable to target them? Squads are really fast at intercepting incoming enemies but how many squads does it take to get the job done?

A upgraded bomber does about 1/3 of the first frigate class ship per fighter. If im not mistaken a mere two types of ship can kill fighters: Anti-fighter frigate and another fighter. They are worth it! The more the merrier.

Squads are much more potent than many people seem to think, leading to the infamous bomber swarms -- 30+ bomber squads can wipe out a carrier in 2 or 3 passes, and flak just can't stop them. Oh, flak will shred the fighters, don't get me wrong on that, but by the time the flak has killed them, you've lost a cap ship or two...

And smaller numbers also have a nasty effect on bad guys, too. Its just that they operate in the "normal" time frame where it takes time to kill stuff.

Squads rule, to no end. I use them every game, ending up with at LEAST 100 or so.

Hangers are super important. I have at least three at my choke points with at least one repair center platform.

What I like about squads is that even if their base (ship or hangar) dies, they can still continue to fight on until they too die.

Bombers have cap ship damage (I believe) and are great for taking out cap ships (I know).

Fighters take out bombers.

Actually, they have anti-very heavy damage. See here for more info.

I support that fighters are awesome to no end.

For that reason i Generally use a Sova carrier as my first capital ship. Since, right off the bat, it can spawn two fighter squads and, with some leveling up, can hold up to 7. Combine that with its ability that can beef up its squadrons and its turret drones it can launch with another ability and you have a fearsome capital ship to use against those little neutral fleets that occupy planets early on in the game.

Carriers are also really nasty to have in mass along with a strong fleet. Because they send 2 squads each(if you have say, 20 to 30 carriers or more, the math says this equals mucho damage) AND, they stay just outside the gravity well at all times and let the fighters/bombers do all of the dirty work, so even if a few bombers/fighters die, they are swiftly replaced because its home carrier is still distanced from the battlefield. The fact that the carriers themselves stay far from the battle also means they are protected by your main fleet from enemy ships. Which means that they can effectively survive a battle unscathed(unless you lose of course). That extra survivability make them very useful since it gives you an extra layer of fleets to occupy a newly captured front while you develop it and is also a good financial advantage since you wont be spending as much money replacing your carriers, assuming you win your battles.

So yeah, combining a healthy ammount of ships that can spawn fighter/bomber squadrons along with a main fleet of mixed ships can be pretty deadly.

If you catch a fleet that doesn't have sizeable anti-strikecraft, such as several capships (and only certain caps have flak, such as the Kol) or loads of flak frigs, you can clean up. Bombers are excellent.
