The free version of OD does not always find locations.  You four options are to 1) buy the (beta) Plus version; 2) Find the closest place with weather data; 3) Wait for the free version to be updated (after the latest plus goes gold); or 4) do nothing.

There is debate as to what is going in the next update and what the next update will be (update to 1.93blah blah or 2.0). It could be some time still depending on what way the developers choose to go.

Is this problem related to the weather disappearing after it was working? When I first installed the free version of OD the weather docklet found my location (Toronto, Canada) and was updating it fine. Now it can't seem to find the data. Even when I change it to New York, NY it fails.

The bug that was fixed was a server read glitch. If they have updated the server settings with the tool then there could be a problem. With the current Plus version I was able to access thoes places so the service is still running fine. Sorry for the trouble.

One thing you could try is clearing the cache of the free version. It is something of a long shot but could help.

Here are the quick instructions on how to do that from online:

Go to start > run and then copy this into the command line:

%userprofile%\local settings\application data\stardock

It will open a file folder. Delete the ObjectDock one. Be sure to save your theme before doing all of this.

Stopping OD and restarting it fixed it. Of course it would be nice not to have to restart OD just to restore the weather but it's nice to have a way of getting it to work again. ;)

Thanks

Well the update is coming though no date is set. Any user here can back me with the quality of the Plus version. I would highly recomend updating for all the extra features, more so if you use this software all the time.

The update will be coming with the full version though. When that happens the free version will be updated at that time. You can always wait it out if you like. Either way let me know if you any troubles here or at support@stardock.com.
