Not So Much 4x But Things Could Get Better

Ok... this is a Great Game, the developers put a LOT of hard work and effort into it... but the game needs work. In order to make this Game or (Future Expansion(s)) Perfect this is what needs to be added into the game.

1. Diplomacy: This NEEDS a huge rework, its terrible no matter how you look at it. The AI gangs up on you or you have to complete these terrible missions, why not have more diplomacy tactics and why does EVERY game start out with everyone hating each other, I understand the concept (story) of the game but what about fixing Diplomacy so it acts like Diplomacy instead of some one sided, if you do this for me and I do nothing for you and I may work/help you in the long run game.

2. Minor Races: Why not have planets that you colonize have minor races living on the plantes, these minor races could possibly contribute a bonus to your empire, you could also go back to diplomacy and have to sway minor races to join instead of blowing them all up.

3. Culture: I like the idea of being able to spread your culture via phase lanes but why not go one step further, have multiple ways to spread culture like...

4. Espinage and Sabotage: HELLOOOO, what major super power isnt complete without these fun filled activities! Wouldnt it be cool to insert a small tactical team onto a enemy carrier and blow it up! or wouldnt it be really cool to steal ships or even research, why not be able to advance your TEC mining efforts with Advent technology!

5. Pirates Suck: I think most of you understand this.

6. Moons: Planets have moons, I want to colonize EVERYTHING in space, where are the moons!

Other than that... I love the game. Just remember the game is a 4x and RTS game... you got the RTS down perfect! But the 4x needs some tweaking... I truly hope to hear from both Developers and players alike! remember all this is where we get to change/better the video games that we pay for!! I hope you guys listen, either way keep up the good work!

I really hate pirates... and yes my spelling is terrible... don't hate me!

I agree

Especially hating the PIRATES!!!

Why do the PIRATES consistently have the largest fleets in the galaxy. C'mon PIRATES that own all other major civilizations in the galaxy, maybe they should be a major civilization then, with multiple planets and huge manufacturing facilities.

Why do the pirates always attack right on schedule and provide you with a timer to let you know exactly when to outbid the other races and what the going bounty exactly is....Duh!!! All this does is allow game exploits through current pirate implementaion.

It makes me believe that pirate implementation was rushed in and an afterthought.

Better idea....!  :CONGRAT:

How about making the pirates more like a random faction that have their own a.i. and will veer off the bounty path once and a while.

or

Why not make pirate raids random with a bounty only increasing their chance of attacking and not guarenteeing it everytime.

and

Why not make some worlds susceptable to pirate corruption and gain a chance of rebelling against the race that controls them.

All valid points but I can live without moons to be honest.

And I can't ^^!

The only thing about pirates that bugs me is that you don't know when you are "most wanted" on their bounty list, the pirate button should glow red when you are.

Minor races should in some cases give access to new special unit´s/research item´s/artifacts if you took over their defended planet/base ^^.

with the pirates you do know who's wanted and when they leave their base the button does flash. it does for me at least.

Personally, I like the pirates - I think they're a unique and interesting game mechanic that adds a great deal to the game.

Oh, and there is espionage, but it comes from ships rather than specialised espionage units (scouts for the most part, although some Caps have espionage-type abilities).

Well, I do know you can check the Pirate screen to see who is most wanted, but I think you should get a warning when you get to the top of the list, like the pirate button flashing red/yellow.

You already get a warning when anyone raises the bounty on you, what more do you want?

Pirates are an important strategic component of the game. Exploit them using the bounty to make an opponents life miserable; or exploit them by ignoring the bounty to build experience for your capital ships.

Moons would add nothing to the game except, perhaps, some additional resources or logistic slots. Now you need to expand your empire to acquire those resources and slots which, in my opinion, makes for a much more challenging and interesting game.

In a 4x game the time you spend managing your empire can vary considerably from turn to turn. In a real time game, time flows at a constant rate. The challenge is pacing the game so there is enough time to manage your empire but not so much that you get bored waiting for things to happen. For the developers, I'm sure this meant tough choices about which 4x elements to include and which to leave out. I'm hoping they will add more 4x through expansion packs - presumably with switches to turn the features on or off so experienced players can be challenged without overwhelming new players.

Agreed...

Maybe not a huge rework...but some tweaks and the ability to give the AI missions would be great...

There are the neutral empires... but I hear what you're saying. Actual different races would be interesting and add a lot of character to the universe.

Would also be very interesting to use diplomacy to sway them to your cause...

I like... I was thinking "Commando" from C&C, although I'd love to see something a bit more complex in Sins than just click on Commando, click on ship, blow up ship...

Actual Espionage would be great.

5. Pirates Suck: I think most of you understand this.

I like the pirates... I honestly can't figure out why so many people are having problems with them.

I wish they would be more intelligent though... Also, they currently act more like Mercenaries then pirates. Defending against them is just too predictable...

6. Moons: Planets have moons, I want to colonize EVERYTHING in space, where are the moons!

Not a deal-breaker for me... I would really love to *see* some moons, but maybe *colonising* could mean too much micro-management... building orbiting (and deep-space) outposts (with hangars and guns :) ) would be nice though...

Same here. Like I said in another post... I really like this game and originally decided to put off buying GalCiv2 to wait for this. I am slightly dissapointed in the 4X part, but I'm also a dedicated RTS fan... and I really enjoy this :)

I pretty much only own 4X and RTS (Civilisation, etc) games (C&C, etc)... and Monkey Island, of course :)

All valid points. I agree the pirates need some adjustment for me to want to play with them on. They really aren't pirates but more like bounty hunters the way they are implemented into the game. I played several games with them and decided they are just a micromangagement nightmare and a distraction from the focus of the game. The last game I played with them off and had a MUCH more enjoyable game. I would definitely like to see a more fleshed out diplomacy system. Give us more options to set starting conditions.... all players start neutral, at peace, at war. Let us ask the AI for help or to complete missions for us. Random events would be fun also.
