Stardock Approved Events

I'm assuming these are the events that are approved so that when you submit a game with them in, it'll not be regarded as cheating.

However there is currently only 1 approved event. Any idea when we can see some more approved? I understand that you guys are busy with updating the game and making us that bonus pack, so if you don't got the time don't bother, you support is already the best I've ever encountered.

Thx anyway

The devs are currently asking for someone to step forward and moderate the Library so Stardock approved mods can be more widely available.

Perhaps to alleviate the problem, instead of playing through complete games with each mod, Brad & SD could establish permissable parameters for player-created mods.

I.e., all outcomes to an event must be within "plus or minus X" to a given stat in the game. (For example, +/- 1 to +/- 5 for courage). Any mod meeting this criteria would be acceptable; and mod exceeding it would require SD-certification to be acceptable for posting to the MV.

I thought this would be worth resurrecting as a thread, as it seems a good idea, and a couple of early library events were certified, but then nothing! WOuld be nice to get a thumbs up for some of the best Events?! Might even encourage more people to submit!!! I'm always in favour of more events!!! :D

If SD wanted to spice things up easliy and keep people happy I suggest they'd at least consider adding a dozen favorites from the mods into the game permenantly.

I've always been too spineless to install any of the mods for fear of them causing an annomylous sumbission (alot of which seemed to happen a couple months ago) . . . but thats just me.

I feel the same way! I would love to see a "mod" expansion! Perhaps it could be worked into a future bi-monthly update! :d

Anyone feel like stepping up to the plate?

I wouldn't mind taking that step, whom I have to contact?

NO PROB! :) I'm interested in the Library getting updated. When MODS are released it makes me want to play the game more.

Lack of Stardock certification doesn't necessarily mean a mod will invalidate your game.

My games are heavily modified (22 techs, 12 improvements, 7 ships, 3 wonders, 3 political parties, and 1 trade good). "Smuggling" is the only mod I've used from the Library. Of the rest, all but 2 of the ships have come out of my diseased mind and I've never had an anomalous score. Possibly because the AI is quite happy to beat me over the head with my own tools. ;)

Having said that, it WOULD be great to have the Library submissions play-tested, documented, and credited. Mods that passed muster could be labelled "Stardock Approved"; mods that didn't pass muster could be labelled otherwise ("Duplicated Elsewhere", "Broken", "Almost Ready For Prime Time", "What Was This Guy Thinking?", etc). Once a mod reached a certain level of approval, it could be added to the next update and removed from the Library. For every mod that a modder managed to get into an update, Stardock could extend the modder's game subscription by a week or a month.

Ideally, you'd want the most active players to be running and testing the latest the mods, but ultimately, I think Stardock would have to assign an employee to regulate the Library/update process and I'm not sure they're able to commit to that.

End transmission.

Not necessarily only employees, the wincustomize libraries have volunteer moderators.

C'mon do it, do it pretty please . . . when I collinize I want to be suprized everytime (like in diablo 2 when you found a new item . . . it was like opening a 'Christmas Present') for better of worse.

There so much yummy stuff and potential just in this small facet of the game alone. People have worked very hard to make them, put alot of creative thought and effort into most of them . . . throw them a bone, please. Review and Certify . . . I'm willing to help out just email me and give me the run down because I ain't got a clue how to use mods (install/uninstall) . . .

And there was silence... a lone tumbleweed blows across the dust covered ground... the wind howls eerily... :p

Could we have someone from StarDock comment on this? Maybe FrogBoy or Cari? Please? (:( At the end of the day, it would encourage us all to play more and be more active members of the community, of that I'm definately sure, and it was StarDock's idea to "Approve" these things in the first place, but seems to have been... abandoned :notsure:

I have not received any answer from Stardock, this maybe is not in the top priority list. (:(

Probably not, they want the patch out as soon as possible and the alpha of the expansion by christmas week.

Oh I can appreciate that, but if we've got volunteers who will happily do this, then why ignore them! Especially people as skilled ;) as Admiral Mayito and Lord Megatron!!! ;)

For that matter, speaking of the devil :P Lord Megatron has ended up setting up his own "Library"! Not really a good sign is it

Even a comment or two would be great from our StarDock friends!!! :)

I think the problem is that Stardock wouldn't want to give away the way annomylous scores are determined (for obvious reasons).
Perhaps to alleviate the problem, instead of playing through complete games with each mod, Brad & SD could establish permissable parameters for player-created mods.I.e., all outcomes to an event must be within "plus or minus X" to a given stat in the game. I think this is a great idea - Guidelines for what probably wont trigger annomylous scores

Bonuses from techs, events, etc are cumulative.  So the individual PQ mods are fine, but if you use too many of them, you get the straw that broke the camel's back effect.

The two conditions that trip the anomalous flag most often are PQ ability > 40, and too much cash in the treasury before a certain year.   We have to address the last one, because too many people are tripping it through legitimate means, but for now it can be avoided by spending more money.

CariElf! :)

I realise you might not be able to answer, but do you know if StarDock intends to continue with the "StarDock Approved" Mods etc or not? Also whether there is any interest by yourselves to have a volunteer(s) manage the process for you? (As understandably you might not have the available staff to do it yourselves)

Thanks :)

Yes, we are looking for volunteers to be admins for the library.
