stupid question on updates

Here's my situation; My internet connection is on my home desktop pc, but my Galciv game in installed on my laptop (it's mucho faster:)...so in the Stardock download does the bonus pack include the 1.02(?) update?Do I have to DL the Stardock program to receive faster updates?
I've heard of the 1.03 update, didn't know where it was located.Sorry for all the stupid questions, I've searched around the FAQ's and forum and haven't found it explained. Maybe a step by step lesson on updating is needed..thanks for any help here. And by the way , a most excellent game !!!

Yes.

if you dont have to have the updates the minute they come out, you can download the stand alone updates directly from THIS webpage. They usually come out within a week of the Stardock updates.
I find it better towait a few days anyway, just to see what others are saying about the latest update. Once in awhile, updates can come out that are not the greatest...can include bugs or they can change some things that you might not like in the game, even if everybody else loves it.
I have a minor concern about what I am hearing about 1.03, so I need to read more to determine if I want that update. As it stands now, I love 1.02. I'd hate to ruin that unless I am sure I will like all that 1.03 changes, enhances etc etc.
Cheers.

"Which page is THIS page? "
www.galciv.com -> select downloads, standalone is there. select forums, here you are.

I guess you're accessing this from SDC (which makes me wonder why you care where the standalone is :notsure: )

Even though I use SDC, I still download each standalone patch. Just for backup purposes. I generally prefer to download an actual file for updates for all my games and utilites (even M$'s WinUpdate page). I've got several discs of utitlites/games/updates/patches and whatnot, useful when I need to resinstall (or worse, reformat).
