For users who have version 1.02.49 (stand alone or from SDC) please post any problems you think are bugs here.

Note: A feature you wish the game had or a change in game play is not a bug. ;)

Looks like tribute you pay to the ai doesn't cost you anything:
I paid 500bc over 5 turns and didn't seem to lose 500 bc after the first turn (I was gaining a lot more so I might not have seen it, but it didn't show in the econ screen summary either).

What I was trying to say was that the AI threads will make use of the second processor. Also, the mp3 player creates its own threads, and so do the bink movies. However, I think that the main thread which does the painting, etc, would probably be more cpu intensive than the other threads.

About Stellar Wake: I'm not sure what would cause that sort of behavior. It is supposed to give a speed bonus.  Are you using 1.03A.57? There was a bug in an earlier version (I forget when I fixed it) where speed bonuses were not being calculated in the right place.  If you send me your save game, (and if you have earlier versions before you built the terror star that would be good too) then I'll look at it and see if I can figure out what's going wrong.

For save games, I need both the .sav file and the corresponding folder. Zipping them together usually works best. My e-mail is cbegle@stardock.com

There was a bug with fleets where the find button would keep going through the ships in that fleet.  I've fixed that bug.

The AI cannot currently win by researching FinalFrontier.

I fixed the bug with the Alien political parties.

The bug where you can purchase multiple social projects and try to purchase multiple ships in one turn has been fixed. Although even in your version you are still getting the bonuses, it just wasn't displaying as having been purchased.

Nico, I'd like to see your save game with the influence problem.

LDiCesare, I'd also like to see your save game if you have one when you should have been paying the tribute.

I get a Random Crash Bug Very Frquently. I recently used Stardock central to install bonus pack 1.007. I crash for absolutely no appearent reason appx ever 45 minuets or so. What happens is i hit Turn to end my turn...or sometimes try to check my stats...or any number of other little things and the program closes...not really crashes, just closes as if i hit quit from within the game somehow... Is there any way to stop it from doing that as that it is massivly annoying, also when i try to reload the more recen autosave i get a blank map, no research available, no ships, no planets, no BG, no anything...a completely blank map. I dont know what the hell else to do

Hm. In 1.03A.057, it seems that on the invasion screen if you push the space bar really, really early (e.g. immediately after you choose tactics) it'll hang the game. The odds stop changing, but the battle never starts...

Of course this still happens in the Latest Beta as I posted a few pages ago.

AI bug, with latest patch:

When at war with a race that has an alliance with another race, I can keep peace with the ally race (who is not interested in the war but has to respect the alliance) by simply going and making peace with them at the start of each turn.

Possible solution is that in order to make peace with a race, peace with all allied races currently at war will have to be made.

I think this has been reported before when you are late in game have a huge population I run into lock ups.

I have a rather nasty bug, flaw, problem, whatever. I simply cannot start the game without it taking 15 minutes, and when I get into the game it locks up or freezes very soon afterwards. Sometimes it doesn't even get past opening screens without freezing. I played the game fine before, and it worked great, fast and all. Any ideas on what to do? I miss my GalCiv.

I just got a crash. I had a report from a colony one turn, and then destroyed it the next. Then, I wanted to clear my reports (the ones that come in the bottom right hand corner), so I clicked on the one from the non-existant colony and the game crashed to my desktop. (:(

I am new to playing this game, but in my second, or third game, I have been running into a couple of bugs. The first is fairly serious. all the per month charges for purchasing things early have zero as the per month charge. This was not the case early in the game, but is now. What this means is that I can purchase a dreadnought for almost nothing, by just selecting the fourth contractor who has the cheapest initial price. The second bug is more minor. When I switch to the diplomacy screen, if I selected a minor race the last time I was in the screen, it still shows the face of one of the major races, until I select the talk to button, or switch to another minor race. This is a bit confusing.

Correction to my previous post, it's the number of months that is showing up as zero, not the amount per month.

I am on a medium map. The game crashes wjhen I hit end turn. Every time. I have successfully played 5 prior games with no problem. This is my 1st game with most of the AI set on inccredible.

I completed a game with no crashes on the crippling difficulty. So I am not sure if this is the problem or not. It happened a couple of turns after the AI gave me some ships to help me in my war.

I use Windows 98 SE.

I am version 1.3. I had a bugged freighter and when I disbanded it the crashes stopped.

I noticed today that ships orbitting systems with planetary defenses/star system defenses/omega defense have their attack values alterred by these social improvements rather than their defense as was intended. Don't know if this has been brought up before.

When I destroy the outpost that my capital is in, and then the capital moves to a different planet, all the save games from then on will crash to desktop upon loading. Anyone else notice this??

I now have two games in a row, that using the terror-star causes a crash. It seems to happen when attacking would cause war to be declared, but I'm not sure. It looks like that latest patch(.04) broke terror stars :(

Bug report for 1.03A.057. This only happened in this version and not all previous versions

I set autopilot locations for my ships. I click the next turn button and the first time the ships will move but several turns (months) thereafter the ships will not move for a couple of turns. I have Windows XP.

I cant really enjoy the game with this bug so I havent been playing like I want to. Is there anyway to go back to a previous version??? Please help. I cant enjoy Galactic Civilizations!

Version 1.03A.057

CTD:

I had culture flipped the last Yor world. On the same turn, I decided to look at the known stats of the Yor(Stats tab under the Foreign Section). Immediate CTD.

This issue should be addressed. Since it is legal to engage in diplomacy with the culturally vanquished, it should be legal to look at their known stats as well. ;)

Version 1.03A.057

Autosave still isn't correctly saving the game.

When I resumed the autosave of my previously reported CTD, the last Yor planet was not flipped. My ships were 'unmoved' (not where they had moved to on my turn). AI had moved. Net result was I lost my previous turn.

It would be nice if the manual Save and the autosave yielded the same save game quality. As Save and Autosave yield different results in what is actually saved and what isn't, it is surprising.

1.04b3 - it used to be if you didn't select a new tech when you finished one (or purchased the tech you were researching and didn't select another one), the game just selected whatever was at the top of your sort queue to work on...

Now it doesn't. If you forget to select another tech, you will accumulate zero research for as many turns as it takes you figure out that you may have just lost your game because of this new "feature".

I am a recent purchaser of GalCiv and was actually one of the first to play it back in the early 90's under it's OS/2 Warp version. I loved it then and love it now, but oddly enough, this new version suffers from the same thing as did the OS/2 Version almost 10 years ago now: after playing a game up to a certain point (generally a few hours either under single or multiple sessions) it simply crashes and the saved game cannot be reloaded without it crashing the game again. So I always have to start a new civ just when my game was really getting good.

I have the latest release from Stardock Central.

Also, before the game I am playing is about to become unusable anymore some of the ships that are constructed appear blank in the stacked ship list of a planet(only the little box with empty space in it) and when I launch them they are also blank (with the little blue halos around them). While they can be directed to fly to a particular spot, I cannot double click on them to bring up the ship's directives screen.

Shortly after this phenomenon starts to happen, the game crashes and returns me to Windows. When I relaunch and try to load the saved game, it crashes and returns me to Windows.

It is truly odd that this exact same phenomenon would occur 10 years and numerous computers ago, but what can I say? Anyhow, it is truly a wonderful game and I love playing it, however as I said it is a bit frustrating knowing that I am going to get to a certain point and have to start a new game.

Also I hope in the future that more conveniences are introduced to display information and move between various screens and information pages while performing various functions. I hope the developers start to 'think in Windows' in so far as what is needed is more drop down menus, context menus and other things which enable quick switching between information pages as well as selecting ships and planets in order to accomplish various tasks. For example, being able to quickly and easily assemble fleets from ships of multiple systems; perhaps also, in addition to the planets and ships screens on the far right of the screen that in the game itself it is possible to right click and bring up a context menu when enables one to quickly get a planet list which cascades into that planets ships, projects, etc.

Thanks for any assistance in advance on the crashing issue!

Michael

I am running v1.03 and was going to post the same type of message. (so not sure {as per message above} if it was fixed and broken again or not...)

It seems if I am researching a tech and trade the AI for the same tech, I am now researching nothing!!

I have gone a few years, and finally thought: "Hey I haven't discovered anything in a while! what am I researching?" <- I go to the research screen and it shows me researching whatever tech is at the top of the list and research will continue again. :SURPRISED:
