How did Tech do it !!

There is a Strategies Board which I admit is not well used so I will start a new thread here to describe how you can win 1000 games and play 3 6000 point masos every night.

Do not read any more if you want to learn my tricks yourself.

First you must be willing to spend 4 hours or so a day playing.

I go home from work at 4:30 start my first game some nights I play to 10-11PM most nights I quit at about 8:30 PM.

Second you must have a state of the art machine.

I was only able to crank up my submission rate when I bought a 3.4GHh P4 with 1 Meg of Memory.

Start Up.

I play all Alien races set to incredible.

Gigantic Map, Tight clusters, Rare Planet.

All the Media stuff and Auto Save are disable.

This content turn an one hour game to a two plus hour game.

The Party I use is Research.inc and my 10 points I add a 5% class improvement and 50% diplomatic bonus.

Generate a Map.

Save the game.

Enable cheat codes, Reveal the Map.
Find our where the other Alien AI is and Local habitable systems, and resources.

I like the be able to capture 5 or 6 good systems, If the Aliens are going to beat me to them or are to close. I creat a new map and repeat.

I set the Spending to 100% and Tax Rate at about 50%.

You Know where the good local systems are build colony ships and get them first. Colonize class 14 systems you have 5% class bonus.

One all the good local systems are colonized. Build constructors and start the off to the corners of the maps. Try to grab a few more inhabitable systems if you can.

The year should be 2183. and you should be about -500BC.

Set spending and Taxes lower.

Taxes such that your planets moral is not too low.

Spending to a rate where you have positive income.

I set Military Slider at about 10% Social about 35% and Reasearch at about 55%.

I go for Diplomatic Translator First, the Habitable improvement. Adding technology to the govenors queue.

Allow all systems to build Soil Enhancement, Habit improvemet, Enetertainment Centre, the add social improvements which wil increase moral first.

I always research the cheapest technology.

Set the planets that are best in building Social Projects on the Diplomatic Translator etc...

But all other systems are build from the Social queue.

The only ships being built are constructors and once I get trade I set the low class planets building freighters.

I meet Major races I ignore them, They are all set to friendly and I have a huge diplomatic bonus not need to bribe them.

Minors I trade for all the tech I can get.
The only time I invade minor races is when they are.

1) In range of a System

2) Majors are about to take them out

If majors leave them alone I leave them alone.

If they are about to fall I rush build a Transport or Combat Transport send them to the Minor plants and steal the from the major.
Keep pressing turn only stopping to add Social Projects to the Queue.

Assign major systems the projects.

If you have the Max number of trade routes and found all majors stop build ships.

turn, turn, turn until 2190.
The year is 2190 you know all the Majors and only at this point you go for an alliance win.

Start at the weakest Major bribe it with techs until it is close.

If you can grab the Alliance and more techs,

Work you way up.

The Last Major you may need to sweeten the bribe with Cash.

And if the Major is not Freindly bribe it wait a few turn and then bribe it to alliance.
All done it should take about 1 hour on a good machine, all media off, and auto save off.
I may of missed a thing or two.

For example as you income improves you can increase speanding and drop taxes.

Keep in mind I do not want to ruin the game for anybody.

The main thing is the Time required you have to invest 4 hours a night for months to get 4million points and 1000 games.

I guess the truth is not as exciting as unfounded personal attacks. ;) Tech I could really help you with your game. LOL ;)

I have actually thought about the bribe order at the end, and have always gone from strongest to weakest in military. Lately I've been thinking of trying it the other way. Thanks for the tip, it confirms what I was thinking about bribing less for all the techs at the end.
If anyone is already at close go for them 1st as you can also trade for all their techs easily seems how you don't have to bribe them much to alliance. Then I go weekest to highest picking up all the techs as I go along to bribe then next. :)

In the other (hopefully dead) thread you mentioned that you set the AI opponents to all the same morality, the one that you intend to end up as. I gave that a try recently (set them all to good) and didn't have enough morality events to move me out of neutrality. The Korx moved from neutral to cool to hostile and finally declared war on me, even though I was trying to bribe them.

So, my questions, O Great One, do you use any event mods? Like the Saints and Sinners pack? Do you set opponents to pure good or chaotic good? Or what other techniques do you use to prevent relations from deteriorating?

Thanks.

I use the default settings for the AI. So I have two at pure evil, two at pure good, one at chaotic good, one at chaotic evil and one at neutral. I never have any problems in moving any of them to "close" and then alliance. It really depends on your "diplomacy" rating. But, you should be able to brive them with a tech each three turns, or 10 bc for 50 turns and that will keep them at least neutral if not move them to friendly.

1 meg of memory? I think ya meant 1 gig right?

I know for sure galciv needs more than 1 meg of memory LOL

enable cheat codes? :notsure: so u are cheating?
no offense because to each his or her own, and quite frankly i'm unconcerned with getting great scores. but if thats what u are into, great.

gotta say, however, that, well, uh, i have a hard time understanding the fun of the 30 minute miracle win. and 4 that matter it sounds like there is some kind of problem in calculating the score, not to mention some basic design flaw in the game that allows such a thing.

again, its your game, so enjoy it any way u like, but i'm afraid i've lost a little respect 4 the game, though still enjoy it the slow, low score way. heehee

We prefer cheese. ;) You start game. Save game. enble cheats take a look. load save. At masso the AI all know where all the planets are, your the only one who does not. So its more like evening the playing field.

It would be very rare to get a decent map and actually beat the AI to a good planet other wise, as they send there colony ships directly to them while you hunt around blind. I would not want to waist hours trying to fluke out a winnable start. This way you decide if the map is winnable. They gave us cntrl N for a reason.

Games with cheat codes enabled do not submit to the meta. So you do not play a single turn with them on. When you reload a game for any reason, Stardock gives the AI the right to rush buy anything they want. They also demand tribute from you. So there is a penalty to pay for using this loop hole so Stardock wrote the penalty into the game because they are aware it is done.

I guess you also could just keep restarting the game after you knew the map without using the cheats but this would take time also but would give you the exact same information.

Every game you play is different even for us and we could easily move to military once we have the big tech lead at 2190 and have some good old fashion AI vapourizing.

Just don't fall into the trap of playing for scores and you'll continue to have as much fun as you are. Once you have a insane pace of scores you have to maintain it or your score degrades. :sniff!:

What isn't said here is that when you reload, the cheat button is turn off, so cheats are not used during the playing of the game, only to get a peak at it before you start.

There apparenly is a way to do this without going through this process, but it is a tightly held secret by those who know how to do it.
