FPS on my computer

i got a new graphics card, and i was testing out peferormance.
3.4 Ghz Dual core
4 gigs ram
8800 GTXOC

and when im in battles with a decent amout of ships the frame rate seems to drop alot. Idk if thats suposed to happen. but i was expecting this card to chew this game up.
1240 x 1200 rez (im not sure thats correct)
4 xAA
would it help to turn V sinc on?

No, but it'd help to turn off AA.

It'll happen.

With 100-200 ships in a gravity ring, when I zoom right in, I'll drop to maybe 30-40 frames sometimes. Performance is pretty darn great though.

I'm running:

E6600 @ 3.0GHz
2GB DDR2-800
512 8800GT @ 675/970

I'm also running the game at 1680*1050 with 4xAA.

What processor do you have exactly? If it's a Pentium D, then that might be the cause of it, as I'd expect this game to be CPU bottlenecked most of the time. Mind you, I've only played on a small map so far, so my experience might not be the same as yours.

Yeah its an old PD 940. Not the best thing out there but i think it peformes fairly well in alot of games. sadly my motherbord dosnt support C2D so im a bit stuck for now.

Also that colored text thing is anoying.

Are you sure? Mine is a PD915 and its using an LGA775 which obviously supports a C2D. SHouldn't yours be a socket 775 mobo too?
