With the creativity, I'd imagine it improves the chances of getting events like the soldier upgrades (soldiers live half as long but are stronger), and things like that. Not for sure though.

It mentions other research..is that tech tree research breakthrough, or events?

Bump.

Yes, I want to know, too!!

Creativity lets you research technologies that wouldnt have been availabe otherwise because of your alignment.

Maybe Brad can answer this? I wonder myself, and have yet to notice any distinguishable difference.

Creativity - does exactly what it says in the description that it does...Gives the player enhanced probability of getting rare technology :)

try a game with it, and a game without it, and pay close attention to some of the techs you get.

What techs are you referring to? The tech tree is the tech tree.. yes? Are you saying that some techs will NOT be available if you don't have a certain level of cerativity? Or a lessened chance? This would be good to know! Especially if you are using a tech tree made by a couple folks to plan where you are going to go.. only to find you hit a dead end when it doesn't give you an option to get a tech that was next on the tree.

Bump...yeah, what fleabitfox said. Someone who really knows needs to spell it out completely in unambiguous language. Please use simple words, the fewer syllables, the better.

The current theory is that it affects what alignment you need to research the appropriate techs. I see no techs on the list, as it is now, that require any degree of Creativity.

Could it possibly allow you to get techs slightly out of order? like getting defensive phasers before turbo phasers? just a guess (and probably a bad one) :)

I THINK that it lowers/raises the requirements of alignment for researching "evil only" and "good only" techs. For instance, instead of needing an alignment of "90" for "Better Way" (or whatever), you only need "65."

disclaimer: all in quotes above are just examples, not real numbers from gameplay.

In the first game I played I chose Creativity because it sounded cool. I noticed that I had access to the Benevolence and Cure for Depression techs that normally require an alignment score of 70, but my alignment was only 55 or so. I believe I also had access to some of the "evil" techs, but don't recall what they were (Xeno Manipulation?) off-hand.

Creativity increses the chance that you'll get a technology sooner, it's a random event type thing.

Luck works similarly.

I've used luck once. That was the first (and so far only) game in which the first race to get a precursor ranger was me. :)

As for creativity, I can't tell - the only time I've played for a tech victory, I spent the point on a higher research bonus, rather than on creativity. I honestly can't tell whether there's a difference.
