How to deal with Frigate blobs

Hey, just wondering if there's any reliable tactics to annihilating those irritating npc frigate blobs(assume at least 60 frigs), it gets annoying because if you have more, they won't even fight,if you have less your support just melts, and the minute you bring down a couple capitals, they turn tail and run,you could chase them but they'll more then likely still get away.

Nuke plz

In general, ships with AoE are good, fighters/bombers, and repair.

For TEC,LRMs with their ability research that gives them AE damage, Hoshikos to repair. Marzas are good with their radiation bomb, and their level 6 ability. Kols are also good because those things have guns in every orifice and can always hit 3-4 ships at a time pretty much.

For Vasari, the Kortul's level 6 ability basically puts nanites on a huge clump of ships, and every time a ship infected by them blows up it deals splash damage to nearby ships - not too much, but it lasts a while and since those light frigates are paper thin you'll be dropping them fast. Their carrier capital is also pretty good because it can mass repair hull of ships near it. Other than that, they have quite a bit more shields/hull (when researched) than the other 2 races, so they can last a lot longer to kill them.

For Advent it's probably the easiest - Illuminator vessels have 3 beam emitters, so they can always hit 3 ships at the same time. Enough of them and those light frigates will melt. Radiance can use Animosity to make a bunch of them attack it (combine this with its passive ability for increases armor and antimatter gain from damage). Throw in a Rupture for Vengeance (returns % of damage to attackers, so stick it on the Radiance after it uses Animosity), and the Progenitor Mothership for mass shield recharge and Malice (damage taken by ships spreads to other nearby ships). Throw in some Iconus Guardians so they help soak up 33% of the damage nearby ships take, and you're very hard for frigate blobs to take down.

Good response! Just wanted to add that the Vasari Assailant ships also get an AOE upgrade, though I've not had a chance to use it yet to compare with TEC's (or Advent's), it is there should you need it and playing Vasari.

Assailant upgrade gives AoE damage also? I just remembered a 25% range boost, will have to look (I've been playing Advent a lot, after months of TEC/Vasari in beta :P)

The problem isn't so much that i can't kill them,it's more along the lines of, they come in with capitals, said capitals go down and they run.....no ammount of units or guns will stop them all, to be honest.....a phase inhibitor should inhibit, not slow down.

Don't forget the Advents Radiance Battleship and its lvl 6 Cleansing Brilliance. My record is 17 Colbalts in one shot so far.  :HOT:

If you win the battles and he retreats, nab the planet and follow. If you win each engagement I don't see the issue other then the annoyance factor. All he is doing is feeding your Caps more exp and wasting money on getting new ones.

CLeansing Brilliance really is the best anti blob weapon, although many capitals have powerful weapons against blobbing. The Dunov's EMP Burst can strip innumerable frigate shields in one shot. The Iconus Guardian's telekinetic push ability can really wreak havoc on frigate blobs, shoving them across the system :)

Could someone list out what TEC, Advent, and Vasari can each do? Newer players/players who are looking for info before buying probably have only the slightest clue what faction the names belong to. (I fall under the second catagory)

My reply broke it down between the three races, pretty specific :P

indeed and is very helpful

right now a friend and i are 4 hours in on a stalemate.........the enemy has joined forces against us and they occupy the wormhole in our system....and we have it surrounded..but neither can really make a move because the one that moves....loses

it has though....definately made it interesting because we are trying to think of ways to bring a bit more of an advantage......most we can do is just pay off the pirates to raid them constantly for the moment and keep scouting the wormhole with a disposable ship every few minutes

I'm running into the same thing and basically I micromanage the battle and try to keep my capitals from firing on their capitals. So I keep directing fire to the "blob" and take out as many as I can. If my capitals starting taking heavy damage then I'll try to take out a couple of theirs and then run myself (exactly what the AI does, turn tail and run once a couple capitals go down). :D
