how can it be officially released when it still doesn't fully work with vista?

like sometimes the original windows cursor is gone if u revert back, and u can't use the switch between windows icon either, it disables cursor fx?

I'm disappointed of the final version even though it is a good program.

- Problematic with Tablet PC (known issue)
- Cursor not skinned all the times (Vista manifest, dropdown menus)
- I sometimes get lag, sometimes very smooth
- Slow 'CursorFX configuration panel' startup with a lot of themes installed
- 'CursorFX configuration panel' "blink" all the time when is open and I move my mouse

(:(

All aspects here are getting looked at. Sorry for the trouble of course but you can rest assured that nothing is truly ever the final build here.

Frankly there is no such thing as a "final build", unless its development is being dropped. All programs are in perpetual beta testing as there are always new things being fixed and or added to.

These developments/upgrades occasionally tend to act up for a while until fixes are released (sometimes implementing new and requested features incur unforeseen issues). Especially since there are tons of computer hardware/software configurations to contend with, and no two pc's react the same to the exact same software.

People should come to expect the random glitch especially when upgrading, and even more so if running the beta versions. ;)

Rest assured the folks at SD are working as hard as they can to fix the random and unforeseen bug as it arises. They alway's have .:)

Uninstalled CFX beta, cleanup my profil, rebooted Vista, installed CFX final, rebooted Vista, same problem. :)

Please give the latest build a shot with the returning to the Windows default cursor issue.  Let us know if you still see the same issue or if it has been resolved for you.  Thanks.

I should note that if you do not right click on Cursor FX and select "Run As Administrator" cursors will not change at all.

Sorry Stardock but I gotta say..."Folks, hold on to your $20 for a while." I didn't and ran smack in to a old familiar pattern. Program didn't work so good, no Documentation, (to speak of) that I could see, "help" links broken or nothing on the page.

I run Vista but have had no problem with CursorXP.

Jason Carver says "says run as adminstrator" if you want to change cursors. THAT would have been really nice to know about right up front, since I think that is what we all want to do. Yes, I am sure you can plow your way through it with dialog boxes but why not make it real clear up front? Save us a lot of time.

I see "fixed" on several comments. How do we know if we bought CursorFX late enough in the day?

Don't get defensive, please. I figure that things will get mostly straightened out but as I have said many times over the years, the customer base wastes an enormous amount of time trying to self-start on poorly documented, clever, fairly buggy, tools.

Ok here a new one for me, been struggling with this CursorFx"new and improved version"???
It does look great and it worked fine on my XP machine for a while until I made a new cursor then everything went crazy and I ended up with the network themes issue( plus version btw)
Anyhoo , so I'm also trying it out on my vista run tablet which had new problems - it installed fine (looks sexy)but then no Activation- "maximum activations reached"- hmmm but none work :) so I tried the public install and THAT had the network themes problem, so back again to FXPlus to see what might happen and once again strangely too no prob installing just a problem with activation.
I hope Stardock put out an All Points Bulletin to lets us know when these are sorted.
I still think Stardock rocks, and offer genuine value for money.... but... perhaps though the powers that be could hold out on releasing new stuff,it's hard to forget all this muckin' around , it really does eat at my enthusiasm and you don't want customers hesitating when reaching for the credit card eh? :NOTSURE:

definately not resolved. i goto mouse/pointer and the default windows default cursor is gone, i reset it, turn on cursorfx, and it's gone again within minutes. and since cursor FX cursors tend to turn them selves off for no reason from time to time, makes it really difficult to use

Not tested yet.

Fixed internally.

- I sometimes get lag, sometimes very smooth //??
End of quote

Much improved internally.. I dare to call it "fixed".

- Slow 'CursorFX configuration panel' startup with a lot of themes installed //No fixed

We are working on it. We can have 400+ animated previews.. it'll be both slow and take too much memory. We'll either have a paged system (recent, 1-20, 21-40, etc), or a threaded system that will load/unload depending on the visible themes.
It should be done by next week.

We are working to solve all inconveniences as soon as possible.

By the way.. I would love to contact some forum participants to send some private internal builds and quickly have a direct confirmation for fixes.
At the moment we'd like to have a broader feedback on cursor lagging and cursor disappearing.

Just write me (albertor@stardock.com), specifying your problem and if you are a Freeware or Plus user.

Alberto have you check out this thread WWW Link This is the only problem I'm having.

Thanks ALMonty...I opened a Stardock support ticket last night. I'm confident they will respond today or tomorrow. Glad you followed up as I'm at work today & can't monitor the forum threads.

Okay, excellent!

My temp solution is:

- Disable all "Effects"
- Disable "Trail"
- Movement smoothness > Slide to the left

For each windows session >
1. Open CursorFX config panel
2. "Settings"
3. "Shadow" tab
4. Check "Disable"
5. Apply (x2)
6. Uncheck "Disable"
7. Apply (x2)

The problem (lag) is gone for this session (current session)...

We are working to solve all inconveniences as soon as possible.
End of quote
Excellent, thanks. :)

Darken: let's suppose you don't have trails or effects, I don't quite understand the Shadow trick.. Are you using dynamic or static shadow? I'm pretty sure the shadow disable/enable should do nothing, but I'll investigate on dynamic.

Would you try an internal build to experiment this issue?

- Good question, this trick work fine for me.

- Static shadow only.

- Very good question, I tried several tricks and it is the only one that works fine on my computer to eliminate this problem (lag).

- I don't know, I prefer to install all "Stardock applications" via SDC.

Finally, not totally fixed > Vista manifest (UAC) and Applying WindowBlinds theme.

If referring to the UAC warning boxes Tweak Vista controls that and applying WindowBlinds that's just being picky.

- First (beta) builds of CursorFX don't have this "problem" (I think).
