WB Skins: difference between normal and 48px ?

Hi all! i've found many Windowblinds skins with a substyle (name of the skin)_48px. if i select it i can't notice any difference with the standard one. it's something about pixel, but, at the end, what changes? can you please explain me ?

I know the Arzo skin by JJ. Ying has such a substyle but I've never noticed the difference myself either.

I would guess it refers to 48px icons on the start menu. Does the skin have a compact start menu (icons with no text on the right side)? If so, then the size of your desktop icons will impact how things align there. Sometimes skin authors will make an extra substyle to support different icons sizes. In XP, normal icons are 32x32, large icons are 48x48.

Mike is correct. The setting that changes the icon size is located here: Display Properties/Appearance/Effects/"Use Large Icons"
If you have large icons enabled it will resize the icons in the places list of the start panel.
