Ship style suggestion

I have a custom race that has just settled into its new planet, but has discovered its ancient antagonist is spreading across the galaxy. Since they're new to space, I'd like their ships to have a pieced-together look, as if they were hastily built.

well for larger ships you could make it look like they took the 'core' hull of smaller ships and literally welded them together...

use lots of construction type pieces and have multiple types of engine blocks (preferably of a similar style though)

just use the thalan style, that's basically what it is.
