What's wrong with the start menu?

I have no listed issues for the start menu on 64bit. Screen shot?

I don't have a screenshot, but, it does the same thing to me. When I click on the Windows symbol for the start menu. It glitches and says that that function is not available yet for the x64 bit version.

I have been unable to replicate that issue. Do you guys have any skinning software installed that changed the startmenu? If so what skin?

When you click on Start Menu button located on the dock you'll get the following.

"Showing the start menu from ObjectDock is not currently available for 64-bit versions of Windows.

This feature will be added in a future release - Thank you for yoru patience."

There is no docklet that will help you fix this so be patient.

What version of OD are you running (Free or Plus, version and build from the about screen)

Under the most current version I am able to run the start menu docklet on my Vista 64bit machine.

I am using the most recent version I can find (downloaded from central) and the start button doesn't work. Giving me the same message as everyone else.

Do any of you have WindowBlinds installed? What version if you do?

I had the same thing happen and have now fixed the problem :D

The beta release does not have the same problem that the normal install version version does. The normal install version is Build 535u (I think it was, dont quote me on that), the beta version is Build 537u.

In order to upgrde to this version, download stardock central (WWW Link) and under Misc > Purchased Software > Object Dock, there should be an install button to install the beta version.

Once installed a reboot will be needed, and all should be running. I found this also fixed an issue with the system tray not being able to be shown.

Hope this helps,

I would love to hear what the WindowBlinds info is if you are running any skinning software. The start menu issue is a known issue on the current beta and I am trying to accumulate as much info for the developers as possible for the next fix.

well reading all these notes about the startmenu issue..makes me think ..

Im now considering uninstalling objectdeck and going back to regular old taskbar.

I love startdock and related but if they cant do this, then its not worth the time or effort.

Reason is that there is enough functionality needed from that to continue using the old taskbar.

SHame... but will at least look at alternatives... but I hear they too cant do startmenu

Also the functionality of the system tray is still needed....

Especially since several apps are such that if i want them to pop up i must go to systray.

Ie; fro example my Instant msg ... u cant run more than on instance and in the objectdock way,  i cant pull it up.

I have to actually have both the regular taskbar and objectdock to get everything i need.

Seems they still have some issues.

Too bad, I have a few clients who would want stardock to do for their company what they did for DELL (Dells Dock)..

Seems to be unique to 64bit... despite the fact that i got a 'older 'start menu' alternative to work just fine.

but its low quality but does work.

well...im doing a workaround as I expected.

Im using the objectdock icon..  to run 'vistastartmenu' which gives me some of that startbar like usage. and so far seems good enough.

Ie; meaning that u dont ahve to wait on startdock to do the start btn yourself...

Shame on stardock, they could easily get it done based on what this guy did...

Btw my system is 64bit Vista home Premium.

No problems except systray now.  (so far).

Though I would like to be able to have at least one or two icons be much more oversized than all the rest.
