New beta scheduled for today?

Please take pity on a poor OCD person who will be refreshing SDC every 5 minutes later today if the issue remains in doubt ;p

You're probably shortening your lifespan by raising your blood pressure so much over a game...let alone a game in the beta stages lol.

Betas are much more fun than finished games. It's like Xmas every week! :D

I was wondering about this myself.

It was really fun when there were still races coming out. However the only 'new' thing to be implemented is the new victory condition, the rest are tweaks and bug fixes.

The possibility of getting the Thalan Hyperion Starbase modules working is a big deal to me. Plus, given the feedback I think the Thalans will be getting some major tweaking.

IMHO the Thalans are working fine. I had a beta 4 game and a beta 4a game with them and didn't have too much trouble. I just had to throttle my economy and expansion rate a bit. It just took more micromanagement of my economy than normal.

Getting my mandibles on the tech for the Mind Control Center was the hardest problem I had in the game lol.

I kept just 1 factory and 1 lab per planet, then a morale and the rest econ and I seemed to keep my head above water and keep up with the Jones' (which were the Yor in my latest).

I kept small for a good portion of the game. My first & second expansions were only done to keep the planets from falling into the hand of the seemingly unstoppable Yor. For some reason I have yet to figure out, the Yor just beat the living snot out of any race they came across in the game. I only won out in the end due to have spent more time in research than them and out teched them in battle.

I believe my bad luck with them in this game was due to their starting area being super rich with compact clusters of planets. Due to that, they were able to just have the numbers on their side in the beginning.

Well the Altarians definitely need some work on their tech tree just so the non-ethical alignment tech tree is more than just a cut-and-paste of the Drath. The Yor are suppose to get some new invasion tech from one of the previews, and could use some tweaking as well. I'm mostly interested in seeing the new victory condition though. Was it last week that there wasn't suppose to be a beta or this week, I lost track.

Can you guys install the latest patch version via Stardock. My installation always fails... (in the past always succeeded and I gave the last version of SD_central)

Not sure on the release schedule as the forums seem to have been quiet on the Dev front this week. Even Kryo doesn't appear to have been here as often as he normally does!
I have been, there's just not much for me to comment on. Been a slow week.
Aha so you have turned sneaky on us! LOL Watch out guys he is still watching you  ;p

real quiet still no new Beta !!!

I was only really impatient for the invasion screen crash bug to be fixed. I want to see the tech tree tweaks, but I'm not foaming at the mouth for them... not that anyone else shouldn't foam if they're really excited. :)

Loupdinour, how long did you spend researching techs before you could build anything at all? My problem is less with what the Thalan get and more with how long it takes to get into any kind of gear.

I didn't clock in how long. I know it was a long time though since I wasn't bee-lining o get stuff as I knew I needed other passive things as well. Once I did get to the point of the labs/factories though I plowed through to lvl3 of them (Creative FTW).

It's a rough start, but once you get things you are powerful and make up time real quick.

Note, I also was killing myself by playing on Very Slow tech in a medium map lol. The time the game ended via conquest victory I had all the tech in the tree except the non-bonus tech victory techs (13yrs 11m).

I want research speed severely tweaked.

"Very Slow" ends up feeling like "Very Fast". I have a rather small empire and only Xeno Labs, and my research is just SCREAMING along.

Sorry guys, no beta this week. The Team has been doing some play-testing on the Sins Release Candidate, leaving GC2 with only a small handful of tweaks, which we'll roll into the next update.

Not a problem, I just like to know so I don't waste time in fruitless anticipation :D

To be fair, the idiots who made Empire Earth 3 probably thought it was fun too.

Well, yeah, but the difference here is that if you want to give Sins a try pre-release, you can. Or you could ask the people who are already beta testing it outside of Stardock.

You should be able to purchase it here or through Stardock Central.

I'm going to hold out simply because I've never been a fan of rts 4x games.
