Feature Request: Genie Effect when Minimizing

It would be nice to be able to add the "genie effect" when minimizing windows, where the minimized window's path is shown as it enters the dock. At the very least, it would be nice to make it so a minimized window doesn't show it's path to an off-screen taskbar. It's weird to minimize a window and see its path go to the bottom left when my running tasks are on the right.

Same thing goes for restoring a minimized window.

Thanks!

A note to others wanting this feature:

The Windows Vista version supports a minimizing/maximizing effect pretty well.

For XP systems I would recommend disabling XP's animation on windows. Turning off animation will at least keep the windows from animating to and from an off-screen source. Your windows will instead just appear and disappear. To turn off animation in XP:

1. Hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard and press the Pause/Break button.
2. Go to the Advanced tab.
3. Under "Performance", select "Settings".
4. Uncheck "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing."

Another thing you could do is position your offscreen taskbar on the same side as the dock. That will make the animations a little more consistent. Still, doing this or turning off the animations is not the best workaround IMO.

What I would like to have is the same smooth min/max animation you see in rocketdock. This pretty much proves to me that it's plausible for the xp objectdock to have the same animation effects as vista objectdock (except live previews). Only thing about rocketdock that sucks though is there's currently no icon or placeholder for open windows. I guess it's just a matter of time before we see which one of these docks finally gets the complete package working.

The "genie effect" is great, i would like to see this effect in objectdock, RK Launcher already had it. This is a long requested feature than i will wait to see, i see a lot of forums with user asking like me.

As far as I know, right now the genie effect is limited to the OSX dock [I think].

In a 3 year old article about changing your PC to look like a Mac, someone requested this feature in ObjectDock. I'll quote the reply by Frogboy:

We have the genie effect for ObjectDock in-house but for obvious reasons it's disabled when we put out public builds.
End of quote

That was the Stardock CEO talking. They won't be taking out that feature for the public because Apple won't be too happy about it.

Wha't about Apple won't be too happy, how RKLauncher release this feature like a plug in and i don't read nothing about a unhappy apple. Stardock can do the same... with reflection and genie effect ObjectDock could be the best dock for windows

rklauncher is a free app made by I-don't-know-who.  That makes it a small target.  Apple is very well aware of Stardock.  Best not to flick boogers at the big guys when they are watching.  :)
