Vote again (dont screw it up this time)

Look what one guy does with 1000 spam votes on ign (i can t believe 1000). You man got SINS poll reseted. I can't believe you voted 1000 times and you thought no one it's going to find out. Damn we were in the third place and now..... thats why i kindly ask you guys to go to ign site again and vote, again, because the poll was reset for Sins. And please don't cheat because the developers don't need that and we don't need that. WE CAN BE ON TOP OF THAT LIST JUST VOTING ONE TIME.

Well given they reset Sins (total bullshit) I asked many minions to SPAM vote for Starcraft. It is now well over a thousand. Oddly enough it is not reset yet. I find that strange...

No, it isn't. Half the reason Sins got reset was that it wasn't supposed to be a challenger. Starcraft II they expect to win, so they don't care if people cheat it.

Maybe Starcraft II 'sponsered' the poll?

Maybe the person who spammed votes beyond all reasonable doubt wasn't trying to help sins, but was trying to get it reset because of some misplaced sense of jealousy

Eh... I don't think blizzard would stoop to such things.

If only because it doesn't need them. All their products "naturally" win such polls, and for good reason. The only reason Stardock doesn't do the same is because not everyone knows about how good a company they are... yet. They've yet to have their "Starcraft" game, to go from "good" to "one of the greats" in the public eye.

With any luck, Sins is that game.

(Edit: GalCiv could never be that game, alas, because 4X's are just too much of a "niche" game)

IDK GalCiv is pretty well known, Ive yet to see a less then 9.0 review. Also just about everyone in my union uses GalCiv as the "Bar" for other TBS, like "Is it as good as Galciv2?"

Also there IS a buzz about sins, many RTS gamers really want to get this game, and Im always being asked q's about it, I know Ive probly gotten at least 4 people to get the beta 4 simply beacause they did not know it was still availibl through TGN w/ tokens (otherwise Im sure they would have gotten it through the official site) Maby just add a note that the beta can still be obtained through TGN.

In any event there is also a somwhat negitive buzz going on about SC2, how the graphics look bad and the gameplay hasnt changed cept' for a few units. On the UAW board many people have been saying that its an inferior game and they will not be buying it. I have heard nothing of the sorts about SINS ony how people cant wait to get or at least can't wait for the demo. Its scratching an itch that many gamers have had for awhile now. i say this with some authority as I am 1st officer of the RTS union on G.S. and I hear alot of the buzz on new games and what the people think.

SINS-Everyone is intrested, no negitive feed back that Ive heard, demo will be a HOT item.

SC2-looks lame, not innovative, fanboys love it

From what Ive seen though i can say the SP campaign on SC2 looks good and may be a selling point for me personally. I however would not be active in the MP as games like DoW, UaW, AGE3, and SINS are far superior. As a matter of fact I think if SINS really takes off it may be one of the better multiplayer games off all time in the 4x genre, hence making its mark for stardock (even though I say GalCiv2 already has from what ive seen)

He didn't spam 1000 votes. More like 600 or 700 but thats still really retarded.

Side note: I really think the reviews on this game after it comes out are going to carry the most weight, not polls. Many gamers really use reviews to make desisions if they are heavely weighted in one direction. Like a game that someone was intrested in gets a 3.0 (GS) that might lose a sale or if that same game got a 9.0 that might be the deal maker. It is for me in some cases, i know I wouldnt have tried galciv if ever review I read wasnt telling me how great i game it was, I was going to get space empires 5 actually, but after reading the reviews, it was obvious what the superior game was. And they were right!

Sins is a new genrea and isnt a sequel to an already well loved game, the reviews IMO will really make or break it, as of now the intrest level is VERY high for the target market.....very

every type of game is a nitch game, I dont play FPS or action at all. I really dont think one genre has more of a mainstream appeal then another...

Well guys the best thing we can do is make sure to have all our friends and family members that are gamers get a copy then heavily promote it within all our gaming communities either via signature images, avatars, links and blogs -etc...

Gorilla marketing will be the key to the buzz and that will lead to hype and the hype will turn into interest and that into reviews and those into sales - rinse and repeat...

Definatly, also if your part of other boards/unions/groups help prote it there, its not like your doing anything bad by saying what a great game game sins is, I mean Id be happy if i diddnt know about it and someone informed me.

The entire TBS genre is very much a "niche" genre... it just doesn't have enough people "behind" it to make it a truly major genre, unfortunately.

Let me try to make this simpler: when is the last time you heard of a TBS getting the kind of buzz SC, C&C, Crysis, Doom, Quake, Half-Life, etc etc generate... and they generate it effortlessly. (Well, relatively effortlessly anyway)
