Want to buy Object Desktop but have a question

I saw object desktop for the first time in years and was astounded at how versatile it had become. I was thinking of buying it but I had two questions first and was hoping someone would be kind enough to help me with them. First, I read somewhere that you can run it on your main computer and your laptop with only one license? Is this correct because I really want this on both my Desktop and laptop. Second, can they both be used at the same time if the first question is true, and if not what happens if you do? I often run both at once and use both at once for various reasons (example, recently was encoding home videoes to DVD on the laptop while playing IL2 Sturmovik on my desktop. Would doing something like that get my license invalidated?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes you can have the software on two computers, as long as they are yours.

No it can not be running on both machines at the same time.

The question of if you do run both computer at the same time will have to be answered by Stardock.  :NOTSURE:

1. Don't know if you read that somewhere
2. yes it's correct, as far as I can tell by the EULAs
2nd. The EULA is worded differently - whereas it used to specifically mention only one computer running, now it says you have to own them - else it seems it would defeat the whole purpose of Multiplicity
4. it shouldn't

but I've been wrong before

This doesn't make sense to me. What does this mean exactly.

I think he meant that as a response to my question above where I ask if I can run both computers (the laptop and desktop) at the same time while each has Object Dock installed on it without causing the program to freak out or invalidate my license.

The Stardock support page says it best....

Yes, to a point. Only 1 copy of the product can be used at once, per license. But if you want to have it on both home and work computer or install it on the road that is not only allowed but recommended. As long as only one copy is actively in use (someone sitting at the computer) at any one time, you are covered.

LICENSED VERSION
The LICENSED VERSION means a Registered Version (using your personal registration number) or an original fully working version of the SOFTWARE. If you accept the terms and conditions of this AGREEMENT, you have certain rights and obligations as follow:

2. Install a second copy of the SOFTWARE on a second computer only if you are the main user of this computer (home computer or laptop for example).
3. Install the SOFTWARE on another "main" computer only if you change main workstations. In such a case you must uninstall the software from the old computer (like if you were selling the old machine).
4. Use the SOFTWARE via a network, only if you have purchased an adequate number of licenses. The number of users must not exceed the number of licenses you have purchased.
5. Make a copy of the SOFTWARE for archival purposes only.

YOU MAY NOT:
1. Copy and distribute the SOFTWARE or any portion of it except as expressly provided in this Agreement.
2. Sublicense, rent, lease or transfer your personal registering number.
3. Sublicense, rent or lease the SOFTWARE or any portion of it.

5. Copy the documentation accompanying the SOFTWARE.
6. Upload or transmit the SOFTWARE, or any portion thereof, to any electronic bulletin board, network, or other type of multi-use computer system regardless of purpose.
7. Include the SOFTWARE in any commercial products intended for manufacture, distribution, or sale.

Example: Let's say I have 2 computers in my home and both have OD installed on them and a friend comes over and sits at one computer and I sit at the other one(using the computers). That would be wrong?

That's what I've always heard, but I see nothing in the EULA that says anything about using them at the same time.

is how the EULA used to say it

the wording changed a while back as more people get 2 systems (or a lap)

This isn't exactly what is written but this is how we say it when we get this question in support.

Only one license can run two computers that are typically not in use at the same time. This allows for work/home, work/laptop, home/laptop and so on. However the system tracks activations and the IPs that activate them like any other company. Too many activations shut down your license. In some cases we reset them for you but if you have activated all over the world it might be too much for us to do so.

I hope that made things more clear. My exact wording is certainly off but I think I got the sprit of the rule across. We are not a heartless company and we want you to not only own our stuff, but use it how you want to. If you have further questions or want a more official answer write into support and we can do more.
